We join with you in this prayer before our Heavenly Father and we hear your desire to be free from what has been weighing on your mind and to never look back.
We understand how a song, its words, its sound, and the memory of its author, along with the memory of people connected to it, can linger and cause distress. Our hearts can hold onto things that God wants to heal and release. Scripture calls us not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we may prove what is the good, well pleasing, and perfect will of God Romans 12:2. We are also taught to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5.
God does not always remove our memories as if they never happened, but He does heal our hearts and renew our minds. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. He invites us to set our minds on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and of good report Philippians 4:8, so that what once troubled us loses its power over us.
Your longing to never look back is biblical. Jesus said No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God Luke 9:62. And we are encouraged by the example of Paul who said Brothers, I do not regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus Philippians 3:13-14. The Lord also says Do not remember the former things, and do not consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Do not you know it Isaiah 43:18-19.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we thank You that we have access to Your throne of grace through Him alone. We lift up this dear one who is asking for freedom from this song and from the memories of these two people. Lord, we ask that You would cleanse and renew their mind, that You would take away the hold that this title, these words, and these sounds have had. Fill that space with Your peace, Your truth, and songs that glorify You. Heal any wound or hurt that is tied to these memories, and help them to forgive as You have forgiven us, so that bitterness does not remain. Give them grace to forget what is behind in the sense of releasing its power, and to press forward to what You have ahead. Keep their eyes fixed on You, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Let them walk in newness of life and never look back with longing or pain, but look forward to Your good purpose. We ask this in Jesus Christ's name, amen.
We encourage you to continue to guard what you listen to and dwell on, and to replace what troubles you with worship and the Word of God. When the memory or the tune comes, turn it immediately into a prayer and meditate on Scripture, and over time the Lord will bring healing and the song will lose its hold. We stand with you as you press forward with Christ.

Your sigh has been heard and we have carried it to the throne of grace with you, for the Lord is very pitiful to those who are wounded in spirit.
There is a word of the Lord that meets your prayer to never look back. The apostle speaks of pilgrims who if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out might have had opportunity to have returned, but they desired a better country, that is, an heavenly. To look back upon vanity and vexation of spirit is to lose the way forward. When Christ and the world go together you cannot tell which a man is following, but when there is a separation and Christ goes one way, if you can part with the world and stay with Christ, then you are one of His. Your desire not to look back is a gracious desire, and we pray that the Holy Spirit will strengthen you to press forward, forgetting those things which are behind.
You ask that a song with its title and words and sounds and its author, and the memory of two persons, might be taken from you. We understand this as the cry of a bruised heart that would be free from that which haunts and wounds it. We have very leaky memories in one way, for we forget His mighty arm and what He did in days past, and yet we hold fast to that which stings us. But it is written, He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and again, the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Not only the fruit of Christ is sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves, the least things about Christ, are full of healing virtue. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. The Lord does not always strike a memory from the mind as a slate is wiped clean, but He heals the wound so that the remembrance loses its poison, and He fills the mind with better things, so that Christ and His mercy crowd out the former bitterness.
We pray for you thus. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone is salvation, look upon this afflicted one. Forgive sin through the blood of Christ, for pardon and healing are one, and when Thou forgivest, Thou healest. Take away the sting of these memories and the power of this song to call the heart backward. Purge the mind and wash it with Thy word, that whatsoever things are pure and lovely may dwell there. Grant grace to turn from every way that is not according to Thy holy will for marriage and for purity, and to walk in newness of life. Let the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings upon this wounded spirit, and give peace that passes understanding. Cause this dear one to go in peace, to go home and to attend to daily duties with a quiet heart, hearing still the Saviour say, Thy faith hath saved thee, go in peace. Amen.
