We come before the Lord with a heavy heart for those who have been led astray by the teachings of the Book of Mormon and the doctrines of the Mormon faith. Father, we know that Your Word is clear, there is only one way to salvation, and that is through faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." The name of Jesus is the only name by which we may be saved, and any teaching that adds to or distorts the simplicity of the Gospel is not from You.
We rebuke the deception that has taken root in the hearts of those who follow the Book of Mormon, for it is not the inspired Word of God. The Bible alone is the final authority on all matters of faith and doctrine, as Your Word declares in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." The King James Version and the New International Version are faithful translations of Your Word, but it is the truth they contain, not the version itself, that leads to salvation. We pray that those who have been misled would come to know the true Gospel as revealed in Scripture.
Father, we lift up those who are trapped in the Mormon faith, believing in a different Jesus, one who is not the eternal Son of God, co-equal with You, but rather a created being. We rebuke this false teaching, for Your Word declares in Colossians 2:9, "For in him all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily." Jesus is fully God and fully man, and any teaching that diminishes His divinity is a lie from the enemy. We pray that the scales would fall from their eyes so they may see the truth of who Christ is.
We also rebuke the doctrine of salvation by works, which is central to Mormon teaching. Your Word is clear in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast." Salvation is a free gift, received by faith alone in Christ alone. We pray that those who have been burdened by the weight of trying to earn their salvation would find rest in the finished work of Jesus on the cross.
Lord, we ask that You would send laborers into the harvest to share the true Gospel with those in the Mormon faith. Give them boldness to speak the truth in love, and soften the hearts of those who hear. We pray that they would come to know You as You truly are, the one true God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that they would turn away from the false teachings that have ensnared them.
We also lift up those who are in need of salvation, whether they are in the Mormon faith or not. Father, You desire that none should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We pray that You would draw them to Yourself, that they would hear the Gospel and respond in faith. Open their hearts to receive the truth, and let them experience the freedom that comes from knowing You.
Heavenly Father, we ask that You would break the chains of deception in the lives of those who follow the Book of Mormon. Let them see the truth of Your Word and the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice. We pray that they would turn away from false teachings and place their trust in You alone. May they come to know the joy of salvation and the peace that comes from walking in Your truth.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
