Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for deliverance is heard, and it is right to bring this to Jesus Christ, for He alone has authority over every evil spirit and every demonic force.
The Scriptures show that demonic spirits are real and intelligent beings. They can oppress and torment, and at times they have influenced even rulers and powers in this world. Yet they are not free to do as they please. They are limited by God, they are under His judgment, and many are already held in confinement until their appointed time. They cannot act beyond what God permits, and they cannot touch those who are sealed in Christ. When Jesus cast them out, they had to obey His voice and leave, sometimes with a cry as they departed. That same Jesus is your deliverer today.
What you describe, memories of a sound, words, a title, a tune that returns when your mind is quiet, is a common experience. What we put into our minds stays there. When the mind is unoccupied, what we have filled it with comes back. If it has been filled with corrupting music, that music will play again in our thoughts. If it is filled with what edifies and builds up, then worship and Scripture will be what returns. This is why it is so important to be careful about what we listen to and what we allow to be planted in our hearts, because much of the music of this world is corrupting and does not lead toward God.
God is able to make a way of deliverance even when there seems to be no way. He led His people into an impossible situation with no escape, and then He opened a way where there was no way and brought them through with a great deliverance. Afterward Moses and the people sang a song of praise to the Lord for His triumph and power, and Miriam led the women with music and dancing in celebration of what God had done. He still delivers His people and He still gives a song in place of torment.
There is no need to fear that you cannot escape or hide from this torment on your own. You do not have to hide in a closed room or try to shut it out by your own strength. The promise of Scripture is that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. If you belong to Jesus, you are sealed by God and kept by Him. The enemy cannot have you.
Continue to watch and keep close to Christ, as Jesus taught that blessed is the one who watches and keeps his garments. Walk with Him daily. Turn from that music completely and do not go back to listen again. Fill your mind and your home with worship, with Scripture, with music that exalts the Lord and reminds you of His truth. When those memories come, speak the name of Jesus over them, pray aloud, quote Scripture, and sing to the Lord. Ask Him to cleanse your mind and renew your thoughts.
I pray for you now that the Lord Jesus Christ will deliver you fully from every memory of that music, from every sound and word and title associated with it, and from every influence of evil spirits. May He wash your mind, give you peace, and fill you with His Spirit and with songs that give glory to Him. May He guard you and keep you in His power, and make your heart steadfast in Him. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
