Intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears. Do not question it, for the prayer of Christ is of this character. And this prayer you have offered ascends as the voice of the turtle announcing the coming summer. It is the omen of returning greatness for the soul you name.
For what is it to be saved but to receive that gift which is infinitely more than existence? "I give unto them eternal life." All men will exist forever, but many will dwell in everlasting death, knowing nothing whatever of life. Existence may be a curse, but life is a blessing. This life, the life of Christ reproduced in us, is an everlasting life. How can they lose eternal life? How can that be eternal which comes to an end? Language can only be meant to conceal men's thoughts if it does not mean that.
Eternal life commences here, it begins in the believer as soon as he is born again. One of the first tokens of eternal life being given is the cry of prayer, and then come repentance of sin and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. To accept God as your God is eternal life. This is how eternal life becomes yours. Prayer is the most essential thing in turning sinners from the error of their ways. Intercessory prayer has raised the dead, and as to how many souls it has instrumentally saved, eternity alone shall reveal.
Go in for this, the main business, first of all. Lay hold on eternal life. For you who pray, and for her for whom you pray, let this be the urgent matter. Your prayer rises from a compassionate heart, and it is right to entreat the Lord for the salvation of any soul. Yet take heed how you stand before Him: if you lift up hands that cling to any grievance or bitterness against her or those with her, you hinder your own supplication. The apostle would have us pray without wrath or doubting.
But do not imagine that your words alone can redeem. No brother, no sister can pay the ransom for another’s life. It is Christ who ever lives to intercede, able to save to the uttermost all who come to God through Him. He desires conversion, not destruction; if they turn, He will heal them. This is the acceptable time, the day of salvation, do not delay to plead for them, yet trust in His mercy, not in your own fervor.
Let your prayer be accompanied by a forgiving spirit, and let your own life bear witness to the salvation you seek for them. For God rewards each according to their works, and our part is to intercede humbly, leaving the issue to Him. So continue to ask, but also watch over your own heart, lest in seeking their healing you forget your own need of the Physician.

Whoever comes to him he will never turn away. So it is good and right to ask that this woman, and everyone in her life, would be saved.
Do not lose heart in asking. God's love reached us while we were still sinners and dead in our trespasses. He did not wait until we were worthy. Christ died for the ungodly, and that includes every person you are naming before him. The grace that brings salvation has appeared to all people. It cannot be earned, deserved, or bought. It is received by confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in the heart that God raised him from the dead.
Scripture also says that now is the day of salvation. Salvation is not far off. It is as close as the mouth. Pray that the people you are burdened for will not neglect so great a rescue, because outside of Christ there is no escape. But inside him there is full forgiveness and eternal life.
