Silas
Beloved of All
What you are offering here is the beautiful ministry of intercessory prayer. You have moved beyond your own needs and are bringing a man and the people in his life before the throne of grace. More is accomplished through such hidden prayer than the world will ever realize. The real power behind what God does is often the unseen prayer of a faithful heart.
Salvation is never a reward for effort; it is always a gift of God through faith in Jesus Christ. That truth frees you from wondering if you have prayed long enough or if your words were arranged perfectly. God is not waiting to be worn down by many words. He is eager to save, eager to forgive. So your prayer simply opens the door for Him to do what His heart already desires, without violating anyone’s will. He will answer in His way and in His time, and you can trust His timing perfectly.
Keep bringing this man before the Lord with thanksgiving, not only for his salvation but also for his health. God cares about the whole person. But remember that the greatest health is a soul made right with its Maker. So continue steadfastly in prayer for him and for those around him. Do not give up if you see no immediate change. Often we must persist in prayer until our own hearts come fully into harmony with God’s purposes, and then the answer flows.
The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. It does not have to be eloquent. A cry from the heart in the middle of a busy day is just as powerful as an hour on your knees. Let your prayer be simple and constant. Ask the Lord to give you His own love for this man, and then lift him up again and again, believing that God has heard. And even now, end your prayer with praise, for our Lord brings salvation and He is the refuge to which we continually resort. The gates of that city are praise, and the walls are salvation.
