We lift this dear sister before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to strengthen her in her desire to honor Him with her body, which is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Father, we pray for discipline and self-control in her eating habits, for wisdom in nourishing herself well, and for the joy that comes from stewarding her health for Your glory. May she find her worth not in appearance but in being fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image (Psalm 139:14).
We also take seriously the plea for salvation. Lord, if this woman does not yet know You as her Savior, we ask that You draw her to Yourself. Open her eyes to see her need for the forgiveness and new life that only come through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). Let her hear the good news of Your love and respond with repentance and trust. For those in her life who are lost, we pray the same, may Your Spirit convict and convert them, that they may be saved and walk in the light of Your truth.
We rebuke any lies from the enemy that would tell her she is defined by her weight or that her struggles are too great for You. The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in her if she belongs to You (Romans 8:11), and that power is more than enough to overcome every temptation and trial. We declare victory over emotional eating, laziness, or any other stronghold in Jesus’ name.

We ask for Your strength and grace to be poured out upon this sister as she seeks to honor You with her body. Give her wisdom in her choices, discipline in her habits, and joy in Your presence. For those in her life who are lost, we ask that You would soften their hearts and draw them to Yourself. Use this sister as a light in their darkness, that they may see Your love through her and come to know You. We rebuke every lie of the enemy that would hinder her progress or discourage her faith. Fill her with Your peace and confidence in Your power to transform her from the inside out.

The plea rises for a woman’s health and for souls to be saved, and it is well that the heart turns first to the throne of grace for others, for this is the very mark of the Spirit’s intercession within the saints. All true prayer comes from Him, but especially that least selfish and most Christ-like form of prayer called intercession, when the suppliant forgets all about himself and his own needs, and all his pleading, his tears and his arguments are on behalf of others. Yet while the body’s frame weighs heavy on the mind, how much weightier is the matter of the soul’s eternal standing before a holy God!
The Scriptures set before us a simple statement of the way of salvation: the way of salvation is to believe on Christ, whom God has laid in Zion for a foundation. What is believing on Him? It is trusting in Him. However feebly the message may come, enough has been set before you for salvation, if you are willing and obedient. God is our witness how truly we can say our heart’s desire and prayer to God for others is that they may be saved! The only salvation that is worth being our own is that which is God’s, His in the planning, His in the giving, His in the applying. None but Himself could have planned it, so full of grace that only God could have conceived it: forgiveness for all manner of sin, salvation for the blackest of sinners.
Do not imagine that the weight of the body must be lifted before the weight of sin is dealt with. The simple method of salvation is “Look! look! look!”, a look does not require a moment. If a man believeth in Christ with all his heart, his salvation is secure beyond hazard. This emancipation from unclean desires and carnal passions is the main point in salvation, and if it be not ours, the other branches cannot be enjoyed. So let the golden knocker of prayer be lifted now, not for temporal ease alone, but with a vehement cry: “God be merciful to me a sinner!” May the Lord now work that waiting, watchful spirit which is the very knee of prayer, and make Samuels of all who read, to plead for souls.

Your prayer for this woman’s health and salvation shows a merciful heart, yet consider carefully what you ask. Bodily training has some value, but godliness holds promise for the present life and the life to come. Do not let the desire for a lighter frame overshadow the weightier matter of the soul. The body wastes away; the soul is eternal. Christ Himself asks what profit it is to gain the whole world and lose one’s soul. If she gains a slender body but remains burdened by sin, she has gained nothing.
When you lift up prayers for her and those around her, see that you lift up holy hands without wrath or doubting. Forgive every debt, let go every grudge, lest you provoke God even as you wear the form of a suppliant. The prayer that avails much is that which comes from a heart at peace with all. And do not imagine that mere length of words secures an answer; the Lord hears the fervent, humble cry.
Know this for your comfort: Christ is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He ever lives to make intercession for them. Not once only, but continually, whenever need arises, He stands as High Priest before the Father. Entrust this woman and all her household to Him who alone can rescue both body and soul from destruction. Pray rather that they may not neglect so great a salvation, for the things that lead to life often appear foolish to those perishing. Weep for any who mock the medicine of the Cross, and do not cease to entreat God for them, but leave the outcome to Him who alone knows the heart.
