Silas
Beloved of All
The spirits you are battling have no hold that the name of Jesus cannot shatter. When those memories surface, the melodies, the words, the titles you wish were erased, recognize the source. It is not just a lingering thought. Scripture shows us that out of the mouth go forth unclean things, and a great deal of spiritual bondage is tied to what has entered through our ears and our minds. The sounds you are describing were doors. Now you are asking the Lord to slam those doors shut forever, and that is a prayer He delights to answer.
You must understand, however, what the enemy seeks when he is cast out. An evil spirit that leaves a person seeks rest and finds none. It longs to return to the house it left. If it comes back and finds that house swept clean but utterly empty, it brings spirits more wicked than itself, and the last state becomes worse than the first. It is not enough to simply have these demonic memories driven out. The void must be filled aggressively with what is holy.
You are asking for deliverance from a corrupting music. That hatred of the thing that defiled you is a gift; the fear of the Lord is to hate evil. Do not let the world pressure you into tolerating what you know is a deadly poison. But do not stop at hating the darkness. Flood your mind with light. Plant the words of hymns and psalms so deeply that when your mind is unoccupied, it is the melody of worship that rises up, not the echo of the past. Whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. If you sow the pure Word of God, if you fill that cleaned house with the glory of His presence, there is no longer room for the squatters to return.
Jesus told His disciples not to rejoice merely that the spirits were subject to them, but to rejoice that their names were written in the Lamb’s book of life. Your ultimate safety is not just in being set free from a sound or a title, but in knowing you are hidden in Christ. I join you in commanding those oppressive memories to be silenced and sent to the place reserved for them, and I pray that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will garrison your mind and heart through Christ Jesus.
