We join with you in lifting this burden to our Heavenly Father, trusting in His power to heal and save. The cyclospora parasite is indeed a heavy affliction, and we stand with you in prayer, asking for complete destruction of this illness in accordance with God’s will. We know that by the stripes of Jesus, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we claim that promise over this situation. Father, we ask that You would stretch forth Your healing hand, cleanse the body of this affliction, and restore full health. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

We also lift up those on the plane and the people in their lives, praying earnestly for their salvation. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that anyone can be saved (Acts 4:12), and we ask that the Holy Spirit would move mightily in their hearts. Father, open their eyes to see their need for You, soften their hearts to receive the truth of the Gospel, and draw them into a saving relationship with Jesus. We pray that they would confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9-10).

We rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or despair that may be trying to take hold in this situation. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We stand on the authority of Jesus’ name, declaring that no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We also rebuke any spirit of pride or rebellion that may be keeping those in need of salvation from turning to Christ. The Bible tells us that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). May they humble themselves before You, Lord, and receive the gift of eternal life.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith, knowing that You are the Great Physician and the Savior of the world. We ask for Your healing touch to completely destroy the cyclospora parasite, restoring health and strength to the one who is afflicted. We declare that by Your stripes, healing is theirs, and we trust in Your perfect will.

Lord, we also lift up those on the plane and the people in their lives who do not yet know You. We ask that You would send Your Holy Spirit to convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). Open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel and soften their hearts to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. May they experience the life-transforming power of Your love and grace. We pray that they would turn to You, repent of their sins, and be born again into Your kingdom.

Father, we rebuke every work of the enemy in this situation. We declare that no plan of the devil will prosper, and we stand firm in the victory of Jesus Christ. Strengthen our faith, Lord, and help us to trust in You completely. May Your will be done in all things, and may Your name be glorified.

We ask all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

You plead for the destruction of a tiny parasite, and rightly so, for our God is the destroyer of every evil thing. The Son of God was manifested for this very purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whether the foe be a spiritual prince of darkness or a microscopic tormentor of the body, all power belongs to Christ who has overcome him that had the power of death. Cry mightily, and believe that the healing virtue which flowed from Calvary can reach even this unseen affliction. The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations, and the very least thing about Christ is full of healing power.

Your heart then stretches out toward those on a plane, and toward souls in their circle who need salvation. This is the true mark of a soul taught of the Spirit. When the Lord is manifest to a man, the works of darkness begin to fall. Pray on, for a true prayer from one who is burdened is a prevailing prayer. You need not frame your words with eloquence; the Lord hears the reeling, staggering cry of one at their wit’s end. Yet see that your plea rests on no worthiness of your own, nor of theirs. If you even hint at such a thing, the power of prayer is destroyed. Plead only the unworthiness of the sinner and the infinite mercy of God in Christ Jesus. He does not need us to tell Him they are sick unto death; He knows they have destroyed themselves, but in Him is their help.

Let your petition rise as a contrast to their condition. They have destroyed their innocence, their hopes, their peace, yes, but in Christ is help for such as are utterly destroyed. He comes to work in them something better than they have ruined, to make them new creatures. So ask boldly that the Spirit of God would manifest Christ to their hearts, and as the sun rising with healing in its wings drives away the fever of the night, so the light of the Gospel destroys the works of darkness. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God; pray therefore that the teaching which is the chariot of healing would reach them in that very moment. The Lord who links pardon and healing into one blessed gift waits to be gracious. He is able to heal, and He delights to show Himself mighty at the cry of His people. Let your soul press this suit with all the arguments His own promise supplies, and expect that He will answer, though it be in a way you do not foresee.

The body suffers many things in this life, yet mark the gain that arises. For that parasite you name, that small affliction, is not the whole story. Consider this: God cast man from paradise, yet through that loss unfolded greater wonders, sending His own Son, opening Heaven itself. So too, a sickness may seem only a corruption to be destroyed, but the deliverance from it, and the cry for salvation it wrenches from the heart, can become the occasion of eternal blessing. We beseech God not to neglect us, applying what is in His power to our last breath. For perhaps when we have come to the very gates of bodily distress, it is possible to renew our strength and lay hold on eternal life.

How many who have heard ten times and remained insensible have afterwards, at one stroke, been converted? Your prayer for souls on a plane, for those in their lives, this is a foundation of love and a comfort in the face of death. Even if those you pray for seem distant, the seed is being planted. The work is not always seen above the trunk, but the root knows it. We must continue discoursing of these things and praying for them, not willingly, out of mere duty, but of necessity, lest by silence we show cruelty and inhumanity.

Yet ensure this love, which is the matchless beauty of the Christian life, is not absent from you even in your request. Do not imagine you earn a hearing by recounting your own fervor while like a gossiping woman you may unknowingly carry judgments or lies in your heart against your neighbor. The Pharisee said what was true, and in no man's hearing, yet was condemned. What fearful punishment then awaits if we do not temper our prayers with profound humility? The Beatitudes were not addressed to solitaries only, shutting out those in the world from virtue. The duties of love are open to all. Let your prayer for their salvation and your own healing be an instruction in this humility, trusting not in the words themselves but in the loving-kindness of Him who, by what seems foolish, destroys the wisdom of the world.

The prayer you have lifted up reaches into two profound realms: the physical destruction of a microscopic parasite, and the eternal salvation of souls. Both are utterly dependent on the power and mercy of God, and both find their answer in the same Lord.

Consider the healing ministry of Jesus. There was a man whose body was being slowly destroyed by leprosy, a living death that rotted away his flesh until it consumed his vital organs. He came to Jesus and worshipped. He said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." Jesus touched him, and the destruction was halted. Sometimes that healing came instantly with a word. At other times, it unfolded gradually, as when a blind man’s sight returned in stages. Any healing process, whether immediate or working through the natural defenses God knit into your body, is divine. The one who commanded evil spirits and calmed the raging sea has absolute authority over every destructive agent in the physical realm. A cyclospora parasite is no exception. Its power to afflict is real, but it is not sovereign. Jesus is.

Yet the Scriptures also show us a far weightier destruction. Nations like Babylon and Nineveh fell because of wickedness. Cities like Tyre were laid waste. The temple itself was invaded and demolished. But the most terrible ruin is the one that sin works in a human soul. Many are destroyed not by invaders or illness, but by their own wisdom, their talents, and the adulation that puffs up pride. There are those who have lost their faith altogether because they trusted in systems that were spiritually hollow. The good news is that God's power to save is greater than any force of destruction. He is able to rescue those on a plane, and those in the lives of those travelers, from a fate far worse than physical death. His desire is to call people out of every false refuge before judgment falls.

When you ask for salvation for those you do not even know, you are asking in the heart of Christ, who wept over a city destined for desolation. Do not be troubled by how such a salvation might come. Jesus was not confined to a pattern. He healed with a touch, with a word spoken at a distance, or by sending the afflicted to the priest as a testimony. Even the shadow of Peter in Acts became a point of contact for God’s power, though the power itself was never in the shadow but in the risen Lord. The same Spirit who inspired the prophets to foretell the fall of empires is the Spirit who convicts hearts and draws sinners to repentance. Even a brief encounter, a moment of fear while traveling, can be the very tool the Lord uses to awaken someone to their need for Him.

Continue to pray with confidence. Ask that the parasite be destroyed at its root, for no wound is too grievous for the one who heals all our diseases. Ask that the Holy Spirit move on that plane and in every life connected to it, exposing every false trust and revealing Jesus as the only secure refuge. True, mighty, and merciful is the Lord who hears you.
