We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear soul who has reached out in prayer. First, let us address the foundation of all our prayers, our relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, for He Himself declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me" (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If this individual or those they are praying for have not yet surrendered their lives to Christ, we must pray earnestly for their salvation, that they would confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9).
Father God, we lift up this precious one who is fasting before You. We ask that You would draw near to them as they draw near to You (James 4:8). Strengthen them in their weakness, for Your Word tells us that Your power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Sustain them with manna from heaven, the Bread of Life, which is Your Son, Jesus Christ. May this time of fasting be one of deep spiritual renewal, where they feast on Your Word and are filled with Your Spirit.
Lord, we also bring before You the one referred to as "###". We do not know the details of their life, but You do. We ask that You would move mightily in their heart. If they do not know You as their Savior, we pray that You would open their eyes to see their need for You. Convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and lead them to repentance. If they are already Your child, we ask that You would draw them closer to You, refine them in the fire of Your love, and use them for Your glory.
We also lift up the people in their life. Father, we pray that You would surround them with godly influences, believers who will sharpen them as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). If there are those in their life who do not know You, we ask that You would use this dear one as a light in the darkness, that they might see Christ in them and be drawn to You. Give them boldness to share the gospel, for "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).
Father, we must also address the reality of spiritual warfare. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he will not hesitate to attack during times of fasting and prayer. We rebuke every scheme of the devil in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against this one or those they love will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We put on the full armor of God, truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, so that they may stand firm against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:10-18).
Lord, we ask that You would break every chain of bondage in their life, whether it be sin, addiction, fear, or unbelief. Your Word declares that "if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36). We pray for deliverance and healing, both spiritually and physically. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon them, that they may walk in the freedom and power that only You can provide.
We also encourage this dear one to continue seeking You with their whole heart. Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline, but it must be accompanied by prayer, reading Your Word, and obedience to Your commands. Remind them that You reward those who diligently seek You (Hebrews 11:6). May this time of fasting not be in vain but produce lasting fruit in their life and the lives of those around them.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would unite this one with a godly spouse if it is Your will. Prepare their heart for marriage, that it would be a union that honors You, reflecting the relationship between Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). Guard their heart against any relationships that do not align with Your Word, and give them wisdom to discern Your will in all things.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the privilege of coming before You on behalf of this dear one. We trust in Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your sovereign plan for their life. May Your will be done in every situation, and may Your name be glorified. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
