We hear your heart’s cry for help in fasting, and we stand with you in seeking God’s strength and guidance. Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline, but it can also be a battle, one that requires dependence on the Lord. The Bible tells us in Matthew 6:16-18, "Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you."
Fasting is not about outward show but about humbling ourselves before God, seeking His face, and aligning our hearts with His will. If you are struggling, whether with physical weakness, distraction, or spiritual warfare, remember that Jesus Himself faced temptation while fasting (Matthew 4:1-11). He overcame by the Word of God, and so can you. We encourage you to pair your fasting with prayer and Scripture, allowing God’s truth to sustain you.
Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Strength. We lift up our brother/sister who is seeking You through fasting. Lord, You see their heart and their desire to draw closer to You. Strengthen them when they are weak, focus their mind when distractions come, and fill them with Your peace. Help them to fast not for men’s approval but for Your glory, knowing that You reward those who seek You in secret. Protect them from the enemy’s lies and remind them that Christ has already overcome every temptation. May this time of fasting deepen their faith, refine their spirit, and align their will with Yours. We ask for Your grace to sustain them and for Your presence to fill them. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen."
If there is a specific purpose behind your fast, whether for breakthrough, repentance, guidance, or intercession, we encourage you to press into that purpose with perseverance. Fasting is not easy, but the rewards of intimacy with God and answered prayer are worth every sacrifice. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust that He will see you through. If you are fasting for something that does not align with God’s will, we ask the Holy Spirit to reveal that to you and redirect your heart. May God bless your fast and draw you nearer to Him.
