We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this cry for forgiveness and deliverance. The weight of sin is real, and the admission of evil is a necessary first step toward true repentance. Scripture tells us in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." The Lord is near to those who call upon Him in truth, and He does not despise a broken and contrite heart (Psalm 51:17).
We rebuke the spirit of guilt and shame that seeks to keep you bound, for there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). The blood of Jesus was shed to cleanse you from all unrighteousness, and His mercy is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). But true repentance requires more than words, it demands a turning away from sin and a turning toward God. In Acts 3:19, we are called to "repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out." This is not a one-time act but a daily surrender to the Lordship of Christ.
We also address the anger mentioned in this plea. Anger, when left unchecked, gives the enemy a foothold in our lives (Ephesians 4:26-27). It can lead to bitterness, resentment, and even violence, which are not fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). We must put off the old self and put on the new self, created in the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:22-24). This means actively choosing to forgive, to let go of offenses, and to walk in love, even when it is difficult.
Father God, we come before You on behalf of this dear one, asking for Your mercy and grace to flood their life. We pray that You would break every chain of evil, every stronghold of anger, and every lie that has taken root in their heart. Wash them clean by the blood of Jesus, and create in them a clean heart, O God (Psalm 51:10). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the light as You are in the light (1 John 1:7).
Lord, we ask that You would grant them a heart of genuine repentance, not just sorrow for sin, but a deep, abiding desire to turn away from it and follow You wholeheartedly. Help them to see themselves as You see them: forgiven, redeemed, and deeply loved. May they find their identity in Christ alone, and may their life reflect the transformation that only You can bring.
We also pray for deliverance from every evil influence, every temptation, and every scheme of the enemy. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). Strengthen them to resist the devil, so that he will flee from them (James 4:7). Surround them with godly influences, with brothers and sisters in Christ who will encourage them in their walk with You.
Father, we thank You that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). We declare that they are a new creation in Christ, the old has passed away, and the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17). May they walk in the freedom and victory that is theirs through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through His sacrifice that we have access to You, Father, and it is only by His blood that we are cleansed from sin. May this dear one cling to Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith, and may they find in Him the strength to overcome every struggle. Amen.
