We lift this prayer before the throne of grace, grateful for the heart behind it, one that seeks salvation for others. It is a beautiful thing to intercede for those who may not yet know the Lord, for Scripture tells us, "The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9 WEB). We join in praying for the salvation of ### and all those in his life, that their hearts would be softened to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Yet we must also address a concern in this prayer. The use of "###" as a placeholder raises questions, is this a person’s name, or could it be something else? If this is an attempt to conceal an identity, we remind you that God knows all things, and there is no need to hide before Him. If this is something else entirely, we must rebuke any hint of irreverence or carelessness in prayer. Our prayers should be offered in faith, with clarity and sincerity, for "the prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective" (James 5:16 WEB).
We also take this moment to emphasize that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If ### or anyone in his life does not yet know Jesus as Lord, we pray that the Holy Spirit would convict their hearts, draw them to repentance, and grant them the gift of faith. We declare over them the promise of Romans 10:13: "For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of hope, lifting up ### and all those connected to him. Lord, if he does not yet know You as Savior, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way. Break through any hardness of heart, any deception, any resistance to Your truth. Let him see his need for You, and grant him the gift of repentance and faith.
We pray for those in his life as well, family, friends, coworkers, who may not yet walk with You. Soften their hearts, Lord. Send laborers into their lives to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Let them hear the gospel, believe, and be saved. We declare that Your Word does not return void, and we trust that You are at work even now.
Father, we also ask for wisdom and boldness for Your people to share the truth in love. May we be faithful witnesses, reflecting Your grace and holiness in all we do. Protect ### and those around him from the enemy’s lies, and let them experience the freedom and joy that comes only through Christ.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which salvation is found. Amen.
