We understand your desire to cleanse your mind of something that may be causing you distress or leading your thoughts away from what is pure and holy. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things." It is good to guard our minds and focus on things that are pleasing to God.
We also recognize the power of the name of Jesus, as it says in John 14:13-14, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." You have rightly invoked the name of Jesus in your request, and we stand with you in agreement.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You would cleanse the memory of this song and its words from our brother's mind. Lord, Your Word tells us in Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." We ask that You create a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within him. Remove any influence that this song may have had, and fill his mind with Your truth, Your love, and Your peace.
Father, we also pray that You would help him to fill his mind with things that are pleasing to You. Let Your Word dwell in him richly, as Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord." May he find joy and peace in songs that glorify You and edify his spirit.
We rebuke any negative influence that this song may have had in Jesus' name. We declare that his mind is being renewed by the power of Your Holy Spirit, as Romans 12:2 instructs, "Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."
Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to cleanse and renew. We trust in Your power to remove what is not of You and to fill him with what is good and pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
