We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear brother who is struggling with anger, rage, and bitterness. Father God, we know that these emotions are not of You, for Your Word tells us in Ephesians 4:26-27, *"Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil."* Anger that is not surrendered to You can quickly become a foothold for the enemy, leading to destruction in relationships, peace, and even one’s own soul.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of anger and bitterness in this man’s life in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we break every chain of rage that has taken root in his heart. Your Word commands us in James 1:19-20, *"So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God."* We pray that You would soften his heart, Lord, and replace his anger with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We also recognize that unchecked anger can stem from deeper wounds—unresolved pain, unforgiveness, or even pride. Proverbs 14:29 says, *"He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly."* Father, we ask that You reveal the root of this anger to him. Show him any areas where he has held onto bitterness or resentment, and give him the strength to release it to You. Help him to forgive those who have wronged him, just as You have forgiven us (Colossians 3:13).
Lord, we pray that this brother would turn to You in his moments of frustration. Remind him that You are slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness (Psalm 103:8). Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, who produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). May he find his strength and identity in You, rather than in his own emotions.
We also lift up those around him who may be affected by his anger. Protect their hearts, Lord, and give them wisdom in how to respond with grace and truth. Help them to extend forgiveness, even as You have called us to do, and to speak life into this situation.
Finally, we pray that this brother would come to know You more deeply, if he does not already. Jesus, we declare that there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If he has not surrendered his life to You, we pray that he would do so today. Your Word says in Romans 10:9, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* May he experience the freedom and peace that comes only through a relationship with You.
We stand in agreement with this brother, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
