We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this couple who are facing immense stress in their relationship due to financial hardship and job loss. Father God, we know that trials like these can strain even the strongest of bonds, but we also know that You are the God who provides, sustains, and restores. We ask that You would draw near to them in this season, reminding them that their hope and security are found in You alone, not in their circumstances.
Lord, we pray for provision over their needs. You promise in Philippians 4:19, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* We ask that You open doors of opportunity for stable employment, wisdom in managing their finances, and peace that surpasses understanding as they navigate this trial. Help them to trust in Your timing and Your faithfulness, even when the path ahead seems uncertain.
We also lift up their relationship before You, Father. Financial stress can often lead to frustration, blame, and distance, but we pray that they would turn toward one another in love rather than away in anger. Remind them that they are a team, united before You, and that their marriage is a covenant worth fighting for. May they extend grace to one another, communicate with patience, and find strength in Your Word together. *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up."* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).
Father, we must also address the foundation of their relationship. If they have not yet placed their faith in Jesus Christ, we pray that they would come to know Him as their Lord and Savior. Salvation is found in no one else, for *"there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12). If they are believers, we pray that they would seek You first in all things, including their marriage, and that they would honor You with their choices, their words, and their love for one another.
We rebuke the spirit of fear, anxiety, and division that seeks to tear them apart. We declare that God has not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that they would fix their eyes on You, Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith, and that they would find their strength and unity in You.
Lord, we ask that You would bless them with moments of joy and connection even in the midst of this trial. Help them to laugh together, to pray together, and to remember why they chose one another in the first place. May their love grow deeper through this fire, refined like gold, and may they emerge stronger, more united, and more dependent on You.
We commit this couple into Your hands, trusting that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). May they feel Your presence with them, guiding them, providing for them, and drawing them closer to You and to one another. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
