An urgent plea for God’s protection

Our daughter has been admitted to college, and today she is moving into her dormitory. Unexpectedly, my husband suddenly experienced severe foot pain yesterday and is unable to walk properly. Since doctors are not available on Sundays, we will first see a doctor later before setting out. Please pray that Jesus will quickly heal him so that he can drive, and may God protect us with peace and safety on the road, granting that everything goes smoothly. Please also pray that our daughter will quickly adjust to dorm life and get along well with her three roommates. We are deeply grateful for your continual prayers, and may God Himself repay you and bless you abundantly!

We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of trust in our Heavenly Father, who cares for every detail of our lives. Your plea for protection, healing, and provision has touched our spirits, and we join you in lifting these concerns to the Lord, knowing that He hears and answers the prayers of His people. It is beautiful to see your faith in action, seeking God’s intervention in these matters, and we are honored to stand with you in agreement before Him.

First, we turn to the Lord for your husband’s sudden affliction. Pain and physical limitations can be discouraging, but we know that our God is the Great Physician, the One who heals all our diseases. The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 103:2-3, *"Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases."* We also recall the words of Jesus in Matthew 8:16-17, *"When evening came, they brought to him many possessed with demons. He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: 'He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases.'"* Your husband’s pain is not hidden from the Lord, and we boldly ask for His healing touch to be upon him. May the Lord restore his foot completely, removing all pain and inflammation, so that he may walk—and drive—without hindrance. We pray that this trial would be a testimony of God’s faithfulness and that your husband would feel the peace of Christ guarding his heart and mind through this unexpected challenge.

As you prepare to travel, we claim the promise of Psalm 121:7-8 over your journey: *"Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore."* We ask the Lord to surround your vehicle with His angels, to grant your husband clarity, alertness, and safety as he drives, and to fill your hearts with His peace that surpasses all understanding. May every logistical detail—from the timing of the doctor’s visit to the traffic on the road—be divinely ordered by the Lord. Let there be no delays, no obstacles, and no cause for anxiety, for we know that our God goes before you and will make your paths straight.

For your daughter, we lift her up with joy and expectation. This new season of college life is a significant step, and we pray that the Lord would go before her, preparing the way. May she find favor with her roommates and with all those in authority over her. We ask that the Lord would grant her wisdom, discernment, and a spirit of unity with her roommates, that their time together would be marked by mutual respect, kindness, and godly friendship. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* May your daughter lean on the Lord in this transition, seeking His guidance in every decision, and may she be a light for Christ in her dormitory. We pray that the Lord would protect her heart and mind from any ungodly influences, that she would be rooted in His Word, and that she would find a community of believers to encourage and strengthen her faith.

We also take this moment to encourage you as parents. The transition of sending a child to college can stir many emotions—pride, excitement, and even anxiety. But we are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* Trust that the Lord, who has been faithful to you thus far, will continue to watch over your daughter. She is in His hands, and He has a purpose for her life. Release any fears to Him and rest in the assurance that He is sovereign over every detail.

Finally, we want to gently remind you of the power and necessity of the name of Jesus. It is through His name—and His name alone—that we have access to the Father and the authority to pray. In John 14:13-14, Jesus tells us, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."* And in Acts 4:12, we are told, *"There is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is only by the name of Jesus that we can approach God with confidence, and it is in His name that we pray for healing, protection, and provision. We rejoice that you have sought the Lord in this time of need, and we encourage you to always come boldly before His throne, calling upon the name of Jesus in every circumstance.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You today with hearts full of gratitude and trust, lifting up this family and their needs to You. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon our brother’s foot. Remove every trace of pain, inflammation, and weakness, and restore him completely so that he may walk—and drive—without any hindrance. We declare Your promise of healing over him, knowing that by Your stripes, he is healed. Grant the doctors wisdom as they examine him, and may Your healing power be evident in his body.

Lord, we pray for safety and peace as this family travels. Surround their vehicle with Your angels, and let Your presence go before them, making their paths straight. Remove any obstacles or delays, and fill their hearts with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. May their journey be smooth, and may they arrive at their destination with joy and gratitude in their hearts.

Father, we lift up their daughter as she begins this new chapter in her life. We ask that You would help her adjust quickly to dorm life, that You would grant her favor with her roommates, and that their time together would be marked by unity and mutual respect. Protect her heart and mind from any ungodly influences, and lead her to a community of believers who will encourage her in her faith. Give her wisdom and discernment in every decision, and may she seek You first in all things.

Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness and for the assurance that You hear and answer our prayers. We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, knowing that it is only through Him that we have access to Your throne. May Your will be done in their lives, and may Your name be glorified through their testimony.

We also pray that this family would continue to grow in their faith, trusting You in every circumstance. Remind them of Your promises, and let them experience Your peace and provision in tangible ways. Strengthen their bond as a family, and may they always seek You first in all things.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
