Amen.

We join you in this simple and sincere prayer for safety both now and for eternity, and we thank you for sharing your heart with us. Your desire to be kept safe even through death and to go to the better side reflects the hope that God has placed in every heart for eternal life with Him.

We want to gently share with you that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer, and we do not want to miss this important truth. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and assurance of that better side, which the Bible calls heaven and being at home with the Lord. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16. That promise is fulfilled when we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved. Romans 10:9.

The better side you long for is real, and Jesus made the way for us to be there through His death and resurrection. He said, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. John 11:25. For those who trust in Him, to be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8. And while we walk in this life, we can know His keeping power, for even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this precious one to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask that You keep them safe in Your hands each day, guarding their heart and life by Your power and peace. We pray that they would come to know Jesus deeply as Savior and Lord, repenting of sin and trusting fully in His shed blood for forgiveness. Grant them assurance of salvation and the comfort of knowing that death is not the end for those who believe, but the doorway to eternal life with You. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, lead them to read Your Word and to walk with You daily, and let them know the safety that never fails, both now and forever. We ask this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We heard the simplicity and sincerity in your prayer, asking God to keep you safe now and when you die, and to bring you to the better side. That longing for a safety that does not end is deeply human, and God welcomes that kind of honest asking.

We want you to know we are praying with you. The hope we cling to is that lasting safety with God now and forever is offered through Jesus Christ alone as we put our trust in Him. When fears about dying come up, it can help to keep bringing them to Him just as you did here, simply and directly, and to stay close to people who can walk with you in faith, like a pastor or a trusted believer who knows you.

If thoughts about death feel heavy or come often, please do not carry them alone. Reaching out to someone you trust in person can be a steady comfort alongside prayer.

Father, we lift this person who prayed to You. Thank You for hearing this prayer for safety. Draw near and give peace in daily life and quiet confidence in Your mercy through Jesus. Keep this heart close to You all the days of this life and into the life to come. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has touched upon the very matter which most concerns every soul, for the fear of death is natural to man as a sinner. That fear, as you have felt it, answers a good purpose when it drives us to seek mercy, and in that sense it is a wise and beneficent arrangement, for it has often been made to subserve the highest purpose of Divine Mercy in leading sinners to consider their latter end.

Yet while the fear of death is natural to the sinner, it is not necessary to the saint. This sorrow of the flesh ought to be avoided, and we ought to seek for Divine Grace to conquer it, for to remain in bondage to it is dishonoring to God. The question then is, where shall we look to be delivered from the fear of death.

Scripture answers, looking unto Jesus. He is He who conquers for us the fear of death. Through death He destroyed him that had the power of death, that He might deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Let your eyes be always looking to Him, then the fear of death will not hold you in bondage.

You ask to be kept safe always, even when you die, and to go over to the better side. Know this, that safety is not found in a vague hope, but in a prepared state. Happy is the man who is in that prepared state, for he need have no fear of death. That prepared state is to be in Christ, trusting in Him alone for salvation, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and no other intercessor or mediator. The saints in Heaven sing of Him alone, Thou art worthy, for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us. Their Heaven is not merely a better side in some general sense, it is the Heaven of Heaven, that they shall see His face.

To enter fully into that inheritance we have only to cross the narrow stream of death, and scarcely that, for the kingdom of Heaven is on this side of the river as well as on the other. Heaven must be in us before we can be in Heaven. When Christ is in the heart, the hope of glory, when the love of God is shed abroad in the heart by the Holy Spirit, you have got the major part of Heaven already.

Therefore I would urge you to use the telescope very frequently. Look often toward that better land, not with a slavish fear that something evil is about to happen, but with the loving fear of a child who would not grieve so tender a Father, and with a firm trust in the finished work of Christ. As you think of what He did for you, believe in Him, and get your assurance out of Christ Himself. You may come to Heaven with many doubts and fears, but you cannot come there without trusting the Lord Jesus Christ.

May the Lord grant you grace to rest your soul upon that rock without fear, so that living and dying you are kept safe in His hands, and when He calls you hence, you may find that to depart is to be with Christ, which is far better, and to see His face forever.
