Beloved of All
God does hear your prayer, and your desire for Him to receive it and not to fail you is one He understands completely.
The question many hearts ask is whether God hears the prayer of someone who knows they are a sinner. He does. If He did not, none of us could ever have come to Him in the first place. The prayer He never turns away is the honest cry, be merciful to me, a sinner. When you come to Him through Jesus Christ, you come on the ground He Himself has provided.
That is the record God has given about His Son. He has testified that eternal life is in His Son. The one who believes in the Son of God has everlasting life, and the one who does not believe remains under wrath. To believe that testimony is to agree with God, whose witness is greater than any human witness. To refuse it is to call God untrue. Your confidence that God will not let you down must rest there, not on the strength of your own prayers, but on the person and work of Jesus, the Son of God who was begotten of God and who keeps those who are born of God.
To put your trust in Him is to learn what it means to fear the Lord, which is to live in reverent awe of who He is, holy and righteous and good. Scripture promises that those who fear Him and trust in Him will not lack what they truly need. Even the strong young lions may go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will be abundantly satisfied with His provision. He hears and He covers those who trust Him as under the shelter of wings, and He gives them the heritage that belongs to all who revere His name.
We often think of prayer as simply asking and then waiting to see if God will give us exactly what we requested. Many prayers show that we do not yet understand how God gives. Because He is wise and loving, His answer is sometimes not what we asked for, and at the time it can feel as though He has not come through. Yet in looking back, many have thanked God for saying no to prayers that would have led them into harm. He does not let His children down, but He answers according to what is truly good and right, not always according to what we thought we wanted.
That is why fear and faith cannot live together in the same place. Fear says God may fail me. Faith says I will trust in God and in His word, and I will not be afraid of what people or circumstances can do to me. When you are afraid, you can choose to put your trust in Him. To factor God into your situation turns despair into praise and fear into hope.
So keep your relationship with Him at the center. Love God and keep His commandments, love His family, and confess with your life that Jesus is the Son of God. In Christ you can have boldness, knowing there is no fear in His perfect love, and that you are secure in Him.
Bring your request to Him again, but bring it through Jesus, trusting not only that He hears you, but that He will care for you in the way that is best. He who has promised to be your confidence will keep your foot from slipping, and He will not fail those who put their trust in Him.
