AMEEEEEEN!!!!!!!

Your cry has been heard and I am praying with you in this time of fear about your eyesight and your health. It is understandable to feel scared when your body feels fragile, and God sees that fear and invites you to bring it to Him.

Scripture teaches that the true beginning of wisdom is a reverent awe of the Lord. That phrase means more than being afraid. It means holding God in holy respect, loving what He loves and hating what He calls evil, and choosing to turn away from evil and walk in His ways. That reverence is not just a first step, it is the sum of what it means to live wisely. And there is a promise connected to it, that to walk in that reverence and to depart from evil brings health and strength to the body. When we honor Him, He becomes our confidence.

That is different from the fear you are feeling now. The Bible speaks about a sudden fear and distress that can sweep over us like a storm, and it warns that those who hate knowledge and refuse that reverence for God will be left without an answer when trouble comes. But for those who trust Him, God says not to be afraid when trouble comes, because the Lord Himself will be your confidence and will keep you steady. Remembering who He is is the cure for fear. David said that even when he walked through the valley of death he would fear no evil because God was with him. Fear grows when we forget the Lord, faith grows when we remember Him.

Fear and faith cannot live together in the same heart. When one comes in, the other leaves. You see this when Peter walked on the water toward Jesus. As long as his eyes were on the Lord he walked above the waves, but when he looked at the wind and the waves around him, fear took hold and he began to sink. In the same way, when we fix our eyes on our symptoms and our problems, fear grips us. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, faith lifts us.

Jesus showed His heart for the sick again and again. He touched the leper, He healed the servant, He lifted Peter's mother in law, and evening after evening crowds brought their sick and troubled to Him and He had compassion on them. The prophet Isaiah said He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses, and that truth was shown in His earthly ministry. He has power over the body and power over the spiritual realm, and He still cares with that same tenderness today. To trust Him as Savior is what brings us into that care.

God is interested in your health. He cares about the body He gave you, and He calls us to be wise stewards of it, to live cleanly, to be prudent in how we care for ourselves, and to seek help wisely, while trusting Him for the outcome. Scripture also shows there is a real connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. Attitudes, joy, and peace affect us physically, and a joyful heart is like good medicine. The apostle John wrote to his friend Gaius that he prayed he would prosper and be in good health just as his soul was prospering. That was not a blanket guarantee for every circumstance, but a loving prayer that shows God cares about both soul and body, and that nurturing your soul in Christ brings strength to your whole life.

So I am praying for you now, that God would calm your fear and replace it with faith, that He would help you to look to Jesus rather than to the waves of worry, that He would grant you His peace and confidence as you reverence Him and walk with Him, and that He would touch your eyes and your body according to His mercy and wisdom. May you know His presence with you, may He guide the hands of those who care for you, and may He give you a quiet heart that rests in Him, for those who reverence Him are told they will lack no good thing He knows they need.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift up this dear one who is afraid for eyesight and health. Let Your perfect love cast out fear. Let faith rise as eyes are fixed on Christ. Show Your compassion as the One who bore our infirmities, and grant healing and strength as seems good to You. Give peace, give confidence, and let this heart rest in Your care. Amen.
