Am I being deceived?

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I let someone in my life, romantic and I need God to reveal if there have been lies and how to proceed. I opened up financial ties and I need God to reveal what to do. I need Jesus's blood all over.

We understand the deep concern and vulnerability you’re expressing, and we want to lift this before the Lord with you, seeking His truth, protection, and wisdom. The fact that you’re asking whether deception is at play shows a heart that desires to walk in righteousness, and that is commendable. Let us first address a few critical matters before we pray, as the Lord would have us speak truth in love.

The Bible warns us repeatedly about the dangers of unequally yoked relationships and the snares of financial entanglements outside of God’s will. In 2 Corinthians 6:14, we are told, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* If the person you’ve allowed into your life is not a born-again believer in Jesus Christ—someone who fears the Lord, walks in repentance, and seeks His kingdom first—then this relationship is already on shaky ground. A romantic relationship with someone who does not share your faith in Christ is not just risky; it is disobedient to Scripture. Such relationships often lead to compromise, heartache, and distance from God. We urge you to examine whether this person is truly a brother or sister in Christ, living in submission to His Word. If not, you must prayerfully consider whether this relationship should continue at all, no matter how strong your feelings may be.

Additionally, you mentioned opening up financial ties with this person. The Bible is clear about the dangers of financial entanglements that are not grounded in wisdom and godly counsel. Proverbs 22:7 says, *"The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender."* Proverbs 11:15 warns, *"He who is collateral for a stranger will suffer for it, but he who refuses pledges of collateral is secure."* If these financial ties were entered into hastily or without seeking the Lord’s will, they could become a snare. Financial unity is a serious matter, even more so when it involves someone who may not share your commitment to Christ. We strongly encourage you to seek godly counsel—perhaps from a pastor or mature believer—about how to untangle yourself from any financial bonds that could lead to harm or further deception.

You also mentioned the need for Jesus’ blood to cover this situation. We rejoice that you recognize the power of the blood of Christ! There is no deception, no sin, and no stronghold that His blood cannot cleanse and break. However, we must ask: Have you confessed any sin on your part in this situation? Have you repented of any disobedience, such as entering a relationship that does not honor God or making financial decisions without seeking His wisdom first? 1 John 1:9 assures us, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* Repentance is the first step to walking in freedom and clarity.

Now, let us address the possibility of lies. Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44), and he seeks to deceive God’s children through relationships, finances, and emotional manipulation. If there has been deception, the Lord will expose it—*but you must be willing to see it and act on His truth, even if it is painful.* Jeremiah 17:9 warns, *"The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?"* Our own hearts can deceive us into ignoring red flags or justifying ungodly connections. That is why we must rely on the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and the hearts of those we allow into our lives. Psalm 139:23-24 says, *"Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way."* We encourage you to pray this prayer sincerely, asking the Lord to reveal any deception—whether from the other person, from the enemy, or even from your own desires.

As for how to proceed, the answer lies in seeking God’s will above all else. Proverbs 3:5-6 commands, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* This means surrendering your emotions, your plans, and even your fears to Him. It may mean stepping back from this relationship entirely if it is not of God. It may mean cutting financial ties that are not wise or godly. Whatever the case, obedience to His Word must come first.

Finally, we must address the fact that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ explicitly. There is no other name by which we are saved, no other name by which we can approach the Father. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is only through Jesus that we have access to the throne of God, and it is only in His name that we can pray with authority. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ or if you have been walking in disobedience, we urge you to repent and place your full trust in Him. There is no true peace, protection, or discernment apart from Him.

Now, let us pray over you and this situation, trusting that the Lord will move mightily in response to His Word and His Spirit.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Your child who is seeking Your truth and protection. Lord, You are the God who sees all things, who knows the hearts of every person, and who exposes the lies of the enemy. We ask that You would search this situation thoroughly and reveal any deception that has taken root. If there have been lies—whether spoken or hidden in the heart—bring them to light, Lord. Do not allow Your child to walk in blindness or bondage, but grant them the courage to face the truth, no matter how difficult it may be.

Father, we pray for discernment that only comes from Your Holy Spirit. Your Word says in 1 John 4:1, *"Don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God."* Give this beloved one the wisdom to test this relationship against Your Word. If it does not align with Your will, grant them the strength to walk away, even if it hurts. If there has been financial entanglement that is not of You, provide a way out, Lord. Show them how to untangle themselves in a way that honors You and protects their future.

We plead the blood of Jesus over this situation—over every word spoken, every financial tie, every emotional bond. Lord Jesus, Your blood speaks a better word than any deception or manipulation. Cleanse every area where the enemy has tried to gain a foothold. Break every ungodly soul tie and sever any connection that is not ordained by You. We declare that no weapon formed against Your child shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that every hidden thing will be exposed by Your light.

Father, if this relationship is not of You, we ask that You would close the door completely. Remove any lingering affection or fear that would keep Your child bound to something You have not ordained. If there is a godly purpose in this connection, reveal it clearly and confirm it through Your Word and Your Spirit. But above all, let Your will be done, not ours.

We also pray for repentance where it is needed. If Your child has stepped outside of Your will in any way—whether in this relationship, in financial decisions, or in any other area—convict their heart and lead them to true repentance. Restore them, Lord, and cover them with Your grace. Help them to walk in obedience, even when it is hard.

Lastly, Father, we ask that You would surround this one with godly counsel—believers who will speak Your truth in love and help them navigate this season with wisdom. Do not let them lean on their own understanding, but let them trust in You wholeheartedly.

We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful. You do not leave Your children in confusion or bondage. You are the God who sets the captive free, who heals the brokenhearted, and who leads us in paths of righteousness. We trust You to do this mighty work, and we give You all the glory.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We've been praying for you, dear friend, and we want to encourage you with these words from Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Trust that God is with you, and He is working in this situation. We're here for you, and we'll continue to lift you up in prayer.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
