Am getting close to retirement

We hear your heart as you approach this new season of retirement and the desire to secure a home. What a blessing it is to honor your service as a veteran, your sacrifice has not gone unnoticed by the Lord, and we stand with you in gratitude and prayer.

Father God, we come before You with thanksgiving for this brother in Christ, a faithful servant who has given so much for his country. Lord, You are the Provider of all good things, and we ask that You open the doors for him to purchase a home that is not only a place of rest but a sanctuary that honors You. Guide him in wisdom as he makes decisions, and let Your peace guard his heart through this process. We declare that no weapon formed against his finances, his plans, or his future shall prosper, for You have promised to supply all his needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). May this home be a testimony of Your faithfulness and a place where Your presence dwells.

We also lift up the practical steps he must take, may You grant favor with lenders, realtors, and all those involved in this transaction. Let every detail fall into place according to Your perfect will. And Lord, if there are any fears or anxieties about this transition, we rebuke them in the name of Jesus. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that this next chapter would be marked by Your peace, provision, and purpose.

If there are any areas where his heart may be leaning on worldly solutions rather than trusting in You, we ask that You reveal them. Help him to seek You first in all things, for You have promised that when we delight ourselves in You, You will give us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4). May this home be a blessing not only to him but to those who enter its doors, that Your name would be glorified in every way.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this with us, and thank you for your service as a veteran. We count it a privilege to stand with you in prayer as you step toward retirement and look to buy a house.

Taking time now to think through where you want to settle and what kind of home will serve you in the years ahead is a wise move. As you weigh options, it may help to prayerfully consider not just the house itself but the community around it, whether being close to people you care about matters, or if a quieter pace and space for new pursuits fits better. Sometimes just sitting with questions like these in God’s presence brings unexpected clarity.

If you haven’t already, exploring VA home loan benefits could be a practical next step. They often open doors that make this season feel a little less weighty, and we’d encourage you to look into what’s available as you plan. Along the way, bringing your timeline and any financial unknowns before the Lord, honestly, one at a time, can guard against the stress that sometimes builds around big transitions.

We pray for you now: Father, thank you for your faithfulness through every season of this person’s life, including their years of service. As retirement draws near, give clear guidance about where to plant roots and provide a home that brings stability and rest. Open the right doors and close the ones that aren’t from you. Grant wisdom, peace, and the steady assurance that you go before them. In Jesus’ name.

Father, please meet deepest spiritual, physical, emotional, financial needs according to Your Will and timing in Jesus Name Amen
"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace." Numbers 6:24-26

The desire of your heart to have a house of your own as you draw near to retirement is not a trifling thing, and we gladly lift it before the throne of grace. Yet I cannot help pressing a home question upon you: before the Lord provides the earthly roof, have you made sure of the eternal dwelling? The Savior went about doing good, and He began at home; so do you seek first the kingdom of God, and these temporal mercies shall be added.

You have served your country as a veteran, and now you seek a quiet habitation. I pray the Lord grants it, but let it be a house where prayer is the fire banked up for the years to come, a place of peace at home that may prove a blessing to those abroad. Whatsoever your hand findeth to do, do it with your might, and let your new neighbourhood feel the salt of your testimony. Go and tell your friends and neighbours what great things the Lord hath done for you, for our home duties are often the most urgent.

Remember, our true retirement home is in the many mansions of the Father, and every earthly cottage is but a tent pitched for a season. The Lord who has led you through the battles of life knows your need; cast your care upon Him. Let your conduct come home to you with the sweet witness that you walk uprightly, and rest assured that He who clothes the grass of the field will not leave His child without shelter. We will continue in prayer for you, trusting the Spirit to speed your petition and give you a feasting place of joy.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your desire to secure a house as retirement draws near stirs a deeper counsel. You ask for prayers to purchase an earthly dwelling, yet the Apostle teaches that if our earthly tabernacle dissolves, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Why fix your gaze so intently on bricks and mortar that must soon be left behind? The saints confessed they were strangers and sojourners, purchasing even their burial plots with money, a sign they held no lasting city here. Now you, approaching the end of your labors, are tempted to anchor your heart in this world just when you should be loosening its ties.

Do not think I dismiss your need; rather, I would redirect your hope. The true house that matters is not bought with silver or the rights of a veteran, but with a purpose of mind, a readiness to give alms and show mercy. The widow’s two mites purchased heaven because she offered her whole living with a willing spirit. So too, your retirement season is not for amassing property, but for laying up treasure where moth does not corrupt. Consider how many have sacrificed peace and even their blood for a few acres, yet neglect the purchase of the kingdom which costs so little by comparison, the offering of a humble and merciful heart.

Therefore, I do pray for you: not that you may obtain a perishable house, but that you may gain that eternal mansion prepared for those who love God. Use what you have been given to help the needy, to show hospitality, to store up a good foundation for the time to come. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. Seek instead to be clothed with your heavenly habitation, lest when this earthly tent is taken down you are found naked before the Judgment Seat.
