Dear Lord I come to you today with my most humble prayer for my husband Chris. Lord you know where his heart is right now. You know his struggle and pain of losing the job that he has had for 9 years and that he dreamed of as a child. This job has defined his life and now it is gone. Lord, help him to realize that his actions led to this. That his depression, anger, negative attitude toward his coworkers, etc. is what led to this outcome. He is not accepting the responsibility and needs to see that he is not treating others with the respect they deserve. Lord, I pray that this does not cause him to go into a deeper depression. Lord, you know he isn’t seeking help, you know he has depression in his family and that it is ultimately what killed his mother at a young age. Lord I pray that you keep Chris out of harm’s way, that you will protect him from this depression and that you will lead him to seek help. Lord he is defiant to that right now. But help him to see that this is a way for him to recover.
Lord you also know that he is now leaving to travel out-of-state to visit his family for a time and that he is going alone. Lord, help me to not feel hurt by his leaving, though we have been living apart. Lord please let this time be productive and not a means of running away. Help me to be supportive even if I don’t agree with his decisions. Lord, you know he will not listen to me so I pray that he will listen to someone! Put people in his path that can lead him to some type of intervention. Lord, I know he trusts his dad, but he, too, needs you. He is not a faithful Christian, but he loves his son. Give him the right words and support that lead Chris to getting help and eventually coming home.
Lord help me to continue to pray for him, and for us, and for myself; praying the right prayers, prayers of forgiveness, praise, and prayers that bless, support, and lift up those that need you. Lord, help me to bite my tongue, to not be judgmental, and to only be supportive. Allow my work to be in my prayers for my husband. Help him to feel loved and not alone. Speak to him, show your face, and guide him in your direction and ultimately guide him home.
Thank you for hearing my prayers, for answering the ones we’ve been praying so far and for blessing us with a peace that you are truly with us.
In Your Holy and Loving Name,
Amen
