We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle with alcoholism and the pain it is causing. Firstly, we want to remind you that there is hope and help in Jesus Christ. He is the only way to true freedom and healing. As it says in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
In 1 Corinthians 6:12 WEB, it is written, "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything." This means that while we have freedom, we should not let anything control us, as alcohol is currently doing.
We must also remember what the apostle Paul says in Ephesians 5:18 WEB, "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." Instead of turning to alcohol, turn to the Holy Spirit for comfort and guidance.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our dear friend who is struggling with alcoholism. We ask, Father, that You would set them free from this bondage. Help them to see that they are not alone, and that You are always with them, ready to give them the strength they need to overcome this addiction in Jesus name.
We rebuke the spirit of alcoholism, addiction, and any related spirits and command them to flee in Jesus name.
Father, guide them to the right resources and people who can support them in their journey to sobriety. Help them to remember that their body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and that they should honor You with their body in Jesus name.
We thank You, Father, for Your unfailing love and mercy. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Lastly, we strongly encourage connecting with a local community of believers and Christian counseling or support group to get additional help in overcoming this stronghold.
