We understand that this is a serious issue and we stand with you in prayer for deliverance from alcoholism and addiction. We praise God that this request is submitted in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only in His name that we have access to God the father. There is no other name by which a person can be saved.
Firstly, let us address the issue of alcoholism from a biblical perspective. The Bible warns us against drunkenness and the misuse of alcohol. In Ephesians 5:18 WEB, it says, Do not be drunken with wine, for that is reckless living. But be filled with the Spirit. This is why a person addicted to alcohol has lost his godly self and allowed an evil tempered abuse to control them. They will be clean when they are controlled by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We must remember that our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB, it says, Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. Therefore, let us pray for complete deliverance and freedom from this substance.
Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, pleading for the deliverance and freedom of this individual from alcoholism and addiction. Lord, we know that this is not just a physical battle, but a spiritual one as well. We rebuke the spirits of addiction and alcoholism that have taken control of this person's life.
Father, we ask that You fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be strengthened and empowered to overcome this evil. Lord, break the chains of addiction and let the taste of beer and drinks with evil spirits be repulsive to them. Free their mind from the thoughts of alcohol drinking and let their body be a temple of the Holy Spirit, glorifying You in every way.
Lord, we also pray for their complete restoration. May they find their identity in You and live a life free from addiction. Let them be filled with the Spirit. In Jesus Christ's name. Amen
Be encouraged by the promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB, No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Trust in God's faithfulness and His power to deliver.
Stand firm in your faith and keep praying for this person. We are reminded in James 5:16 WEB, Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective. Trust in God's power to deliver and heal.
