We are truly saddened to hear about the struggle with alcohol and drug addiction that your son is facing. It is a heart breaking situation. Substance abuse is something that can trap us in a downward spiral away from God's plan for our lives. The Bible tells us in Galatians 5:19-21 WEB, "Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God." But, there is always hope.
Jesus Christ is always ready to forgive and help us break free from these chains. In John 8:36 WEB, Jesus says, "If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." Also, in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 WEB, "Don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God. Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God."
The first thing is to believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior, and then we can be transformed and turn to God for help in overcoming addiction. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up the son of the one who submitted this request. We pray that You will deliver him from this bondage of alcohol and drug addiction. Give him the strength to overcome these struggles and to turn away from them. Help the family trust in You, to find peace, joy, and hope in You during this trying time.
We rebuke the enemy's power over him and proclaim victory in his life through the blood of Jesus. We also pray that he has godly friends and supporters that come around him helping to keep him on the right path. We pray for complete and total restoration for him and his family.
Lord, we also pray for his career and financial well-being. Guide him back to his job as a lab technician or to a better job that will suit him and help him live a productive life that serves You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
We encourage you to show your son tough love and encourage him to seek godly counsel and support. Remind him of God's unfailing love and that there's always a way back to God through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Pray with him. Trust in God to turn this situation around.
Lastly, remember that God is faithful. In 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." God will make a way. Trust in Him.
