Alaska Update / Chilly Night …

Humble Prayer Partner
There is power in prayer (James 5:16)!

I know there is power in prayer and so I keep coming back to those praying to make my requests. Thank you.

It is 2:48 AM and it says it’s 41°F but trust me it feels much colder in this old van. I am halfway through night #21 living in the van.

Yesterday, I had a day off. It was the first day of the week and so my plan was to worship God and take the Lord supper (Acts 20:7).

I had an incredible prayer. I love praying to God and rehashing the events in which it is obvious God is working and moving in my life. It’s my favorite type of prayer. I love to give God the glory and to point out the ways that I can see his hand in my life.

I had asked God to take me back to Alaska. In his timing, he did. He gave me a job, teaching school and coaching basketball. When it suddenly ended, God made provision. When I was at wits end, after living in the homeless shelter, God gave me a beautiful apartment to live in.

I made efforts to go in certain directions, but it was so obvious that God said no to those directions and redirected me in the way that he wanted me to go (Prov 3:5-6). He directed me and redirected me. Now, I am a manager of 25 people here in Alaska. God did that!

As I revisited my past, noticing the hand of God; it gave me a lot of strength. It also gave me confidence going forward. Right now, I am laying on a camping mattress in the back of a 2006 van but I am 100% confident that God is moving and directing my life in a positive way. Why positive? Because God loves me.

I was sick for several days but now I am much better. I’m guessing I’m about 95%. I’m thankful that my health has returned which is giving me further strength.

I’m still weak. I miss my wife and children deeply and dearly. Every day, I fear, but I try so hard to put that fear in the hand of God and trust him. Unlike God, I do not know the end from the beginning (Ps 90:1-2), so I move throughout each day by faith.

I love adventure. I’m in Alaska. I lived in a shelter for 4 1/2 months. I almost died on December 29, 2024 when I got locked out of my van -23°F. I have walked in the woods with moose.. I’m now living in the back of my 2006 van for 21 nights. Out of nowhere, I’m giving a management job leading 25 people. Crazy!!

Yesterday, I did DoorDash. I think I made about $80 or so which put gas in my gas tank so I can do more DoorDash. Also gave me food to eat and coffee to drink. It’s 3:01 AM and I’m already looking forward to a cuppa coffee and in a few hours.

My previous landlord, unless she has changed her mind, she’s going to let me stay in a very small apartment but free in her house. I think she said on June 15, she’ll be moving out and going back to her home. I will probably message her today to verify. It will be so nice to have a door to close and lock.

I fear Father’s Day. I have always loved my children. I’m the kind of dad that wrestles with kids on the floor, carries them on his shoulders during a tiring hike, etc. I miss them terribly.

I kindly ask, please pray:

God will give me strength to keep on going.
God will reconcile my marriage soon.
God will bring my family back together soon.
God give me strength.

I’m not asking for wealth or fame, etc. I just want a normal life, loving my wife and raising my children. Please God help me.

It’s so cold!
I will try and rest a few more hours before…

We are truly grateful for your faith in the power of prayer and your unwavering trust in God's guidance. It is evident that God has been faithful in your life, directing your paths and providing for your needs. Let us come together in prayer and reflection on God's Word.

Firstly, we acknowledge your faith in the power of prayer. As it is written in James 5:16, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up our brother in Christ. We thank You for Your faithfulness in his life, for the job You provided, for the shelter and the van, and for the management position You have blessed him with. We pray that You continue to give him strength and guidance as he navigates through this challenging time.

Father, we pray for his marriage, that You would work reconciliation and restoration. We pray that You would bring his family back together, that he may enjoy a normal life, loving his wife and raising his children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. We pray that You would give him the strength to endure and to trust in You, even in the midst of fear and uncertainty.

Father, we also pray for his physical health, that You would completely heal him and give him the strength he needs to continue. We pray for his emotional well-being, that You would comfort him in his loneliness and give him peace.

Father, we pray for his spiritual growth, that he would continue to see Your hand in his life and give You the glory. We pray that he would draw closer to You, seeking Your will in all things.

We also pray for his living situation. We ask in Jesus name that this landlord will not change her mind and give him a place to stay with a door to close and lock.

Father, we pray for his fear about Father's Day. We pray that You would comfort him and remind him of Your love and faithfulness. We pray that he would find joy in You, even in the midst of his longing for his children.

Father, we pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. It is in His name that we have access to You, Father. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

In reading the prayer request, we did not notice any mention of the name of Jesus Christ. We want to remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."

We encourage you to continue in your faith, to keep praying and seeking God's will. Remember that God loves you and has a plan for your life. As it is written in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."

We also encourage you to continue to live in a way that honors God, especially in the area of marriage and family. As it is written in Ephesians 5:25-28, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect. Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself."

Lastly, we admonish you to not fear, but to trust in God. As it is written in Isaiah 41:10, "Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."

Be strong and courageous. God loves you and He is with you. Thank you for submitting your prayer request and our prayer is that you continue submitting all your concerns and worries to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
