We are truly heartbroken to hear about the pain and betrayal you have experienced in your marriage. Adultery is a grave sin, and it is clear that this has caused deep hurt and confusion. Let us first address the biblical perspective on marriage and adultery.
In the Bible, marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, designed to reflect the relationship between Christ and the church Ephesians 5:22-33 WEB. Adultery is a violation of this covenant and is clearly condemned throughout Scripture. In Matthew 5:27-28 WEB, Jesus teaches that even lusting after another person is a form of adultery.
Regarding divorce, Jesus spoke about the seriousness of marriage and the conditions under which divorce might be considered. In Matthew 19:9 WEB, Jesus said, "I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery." This passage acknowledges that sexual immorality is a grave offense that can affect the marriage covenant.
However, divorce should not be taken lightly, and reconciliation should always be the first pursuit if both parties are willing. In 1 Corinthians 7:10-11 WEB, the Apostle Paul writes, "But to the married I command—not I, but the Lord—that the wife not leave her husband (but if she departs, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband not leave his wife."
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister who is in deep pain and confusion. Lord, You see her heartache and the betrayal she has endured. We pray for Your comfort and peace to surround her. Guide her with Your wisdom and reveal the truth in this situation. Help her to forgive, even as You have forgiven us. If it is Your will, we pray for a miraculous restoration of her marriage, that her husband would repent and turn back to You and to her. Give her the strength and courage to seek godly counsel and to make decisions that honor You.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or trusted Christian mentor. They can provide you with biblical guidance and support during this difficult time. Remember that God is faithful, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5 WEB. Trust in Him, and He will guide you through this trial.
Lastly, continue to pray fervently, asking God for wisdom and guidance. James 1:5 WEB says, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Trust that God hears your prayers and will provide the answers you need in His perfect timing.
