We are grieved by the normalization of sin in the entertainment industry, particularly when it involves the desecration of marriage vows through adulterous portrayals on screen. The Word of God is clear: marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and any sexual immorality, whether in thought, word, or deed, is a violation of His holy design. "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). The fact that a married woman would willingly participate in such a scene, that filmmakers would exploit it for profit, and that a husband would not only tolerate but celebrate this betrayal of their marriage covenant reveals a deep spiritual blindness and moral decay.
The husband’s response is particularly alarming, as it reflects a complete inversion of God’s order. A husband is called to love his wife as Christ loves the Church, sacrificially and purely (Ephesians 5:25). To defend or take pride in his wife’s participation in such sin is not love, it is enabling wickedness. It is a tragic sign of how far society has strayed from biblical truth when what God calls evil is celebrated as good. "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness" (Isaiah 5:20 WEB).
We must also recognize that the entertainment industry often glorifies sin under the guise of "art" or "freedom," but Scripture warns us: "Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers, will inherit the Kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 WEB). The fact that such behavior is not only permitted but applauded in our culture is a sobering reminder of the need for repentance and revival.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieving over the sin that has taken root in our world. We ask for Your mercy upon those who have been deceived by the lies of the enemy, believing that immorality is harmless or even virtuous. Lord, we pray for the married woman involved in this sin, soften her heart to see the gravity of her actions and lead her to repentance. We pray for her husband, that You would convict him of his failure to uphold Your standards of love and holiness in his marriage. Father, we ask that You would expose the darkness in the entertainment industry and bring about a turning away from such wickedness. Raise up voices that will boldly proclaim Your truth and stand for righteousness. We pray for the Church, that we would not be swayed by the world’s standards but would be a light in the darkness, reflecting Your holiness. May Your name be glorified, and may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
To those who may be complicit in or desensitized to such sins, we urge you to examine your heart before God. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we implore you to do so today. Confess your sins, turn from them, and place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Only through Him can you find forgiveness, healing, and the strength to walk in righteousness. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). Do not delay, your soul is at stake.
