We are truly heartbroken to hear about these individuals struggling with bad habits, alcoholism, and cannabis addiction. We stand with you in prayer and believe in the power of Jesus Christ to break every chain of addiction.
Firstly, it's crucial to understand that freedom from addiction is found in Jesus Christ. His death and resurrection have purchased our freedom from all forms of sin and bondage. As it is written in Galatians 5:1 WEB:
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
Addiction is a form of bondage, but Jesus has come to set the captives free. We need to call out these addictions and rebuke the strongholds in the name of Jesus Christ.
We also need to remember that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we should honor God with our bodies. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB:
Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Using alcohol and cannabis for pleasure and allowing oneself to become addicted to them is a sin against our own bodies and against God. We need to honor God with our bodies and present them as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God, which is our spiritual service.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up these dear ones struggling with bad habits, alcoholism, and cannabis addiction. We know that these addictions are not Your will for their lives, and we rebuke the strongholds of addiction in their lives in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Father, we ask You to set them free from these chains of bondage. Give them the strength and courage to overcome these addictions. Help them to see that their bodies are Your temple, and they should honor You with their bodies. Give them a desire to present their bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to You, which is their spiritual service.
We also pray for their complete healing and restoration. Help them to see that You are the only one who can fill the void in their lives. Help them to turn away from these temporary pleasures and turn to You, the only source of true joy and fulfillment.
If they have not already done so, we pray that they would call upon the name of Jesus Christ, confessing their sins and believing in their heart that You raised Him from the dead. That they may be saved and have access to You and eternal life. For it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB:
There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!
And in Romans 10:9 WEB:
that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness and Your promise to hear our prayers. We trust in Your love and mercy, and we believe that You will set these dear ones free from their addictions.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage these individuals to seek godly counsel and support from their local church or Christian community. It's important to remember that overcoming addiction is a journey, and it's okay to seek help along the way. We also encourage them to stay strong in their faith and trust in God's promise to set them free.
As it is written in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB:
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
