We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle with gambling addiction and the financial distress it has caused. Firstly, we want to remind you that there is always hope and a way out through Jesus Christ. It is important to remember that God is always willing to forgive and restore us when we come to Him with a repentant heart. As it says in 1 John 1:9 WEB If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 WEB Or don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God. Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.
Gambling is a form of covetousness and stewardship problem, trying to gain from games of chance rather than from honest work, and is therefore sinful. Proverbs 13:11 WEB Wealth gotten by vanity will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor shall increase.
It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Therefore, we believe it is important to make sure that you have a saving faith in Jesus Christ. This means that you have believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord. Romans 10:9 WEB because, if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 for with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
We stand with you in prayer, asking God to deliver you from this addiction and to provide for your financial needs as you turn away from gambling. We pray that God will give you the strength and courage to seek help and accountability, and that He will restore all that has been lost, both finanically and spiritually. We encourage you to seek counsel from your local church or pastor, and to find a support group that can help you overcome this addiction.
Let us pray.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother in Christ who is struggling with gambling addiction. Lord, we ask that You forgive his sins and cleanse him from all unrighteousness. We pray for complete deliverance from this addiction, and that You would provide for his financial needs as he turns away from gambling and towards Your provision. We ask that You would strengthen his heart, that he will be able to stand against temptation and the enemy's schemes. Give him a spirit of steadfastness, and help him to seek help and accountability. Restore all that has been lost, both finanically and spiritually. Guide him in the way he should go, and draw him ever closer to You.
In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
