Dhitlor

Beloved Servant
I did something rebellious recently that I shouldn't have and sinned against God and now the enemy is trying to keep rubbing this sin in my face (via certain people). Please pray for me about this and other similar situations in my life. Thank you.

We hear your honest confession and we thank you for humbling yourself to admit that you did something rebellious and sinned against God, and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord together in Jesus' name. It takes godly sorrow to acknowledge sin rather than to hide it, and we want to encourage you that God is merciful to those who truly repent. As it is written, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

We also discern what you are describing about the enemy rubbing this sin in your face through certain people, and we want to help you understand the difference between the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the accusation of the enemy. The Holy Spirit convicts us to lead us to repentance and restoration, for godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation. 2 Cor 7:10 But the enemy is the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night. Rev 12:10 His goal is not to restore you but to shame you, to keep you in condemnation and to make you doubt God's forgiveness after you have repented. We rebuke that accusing spirit in Jesus' name and we remind you of the promise that There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Rom 8:1 and As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Ps 103:12

We gently rebuke the rebellious act itself as well, because rebellion against God is serious and should not be taken lightly. If we have truly confessed and forsaken it, God forgives, but He also calls us to turn from it and walk in obedience, not to return to it. We encourage you to examine whether you have fully repented, which means not only confessing with your mouth but turning from that sin in your heart and actions, and to be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 When the enemy brings up a sin that God has already forgiven and cleansed, we resist him with the truth of Scripture and with faith in the blood of Jesus.

We notice you mentioned God but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and assurance of forgiveness. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name for salvation and for daily cleansing. It is His blood alone that silences the accuser.

For these other similar situations in your life where this pattern may repeat, we encourage you to walk closely with the Lord in the Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with mature believers who can hold you accountable and speak truth in love. Do not give the enemy a foothold by lingering in temptation or by isolating yourself in shame. Instead, bring every thought captive to Christ, memorize promises of forgiveness, and when people are used to accuse you, test what they say against Scripture. If there is truth that calls you to further repentance, respond humbly. If it is mere accusation after God has forgiven you, reject it and stand firm in your identity in Christ.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to Your throne of grace. We confess this sin of rebellion with them and we thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse through the blood of Jesus. We ask You to assure their heart that when sin is confessed and forsaken, it is removed and remembered no more. We rebuke the accuser and every voice the enemy would use to bring shame and condemnation, and we ask You to silence those accusations and to fill this heart with Your peace. Grant repentance that bears fruit, strength to resist the devil and to flee from temptation, and wisdom to walk in obedience from this day forward. Surround them with godly counsel and help them to grow in holiness, and let them know the joy of being fully forgiven and fully accepted in Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We're grateful you shared this so honestly. To know you did something you regret, to own it before God, and then to have it thrown back in your face through other people, that is a heavy place to be. It makes sense you feel accused and tired.

One thing we have found helpful to keep in mind is the difference between conviction that invites you to turn back to God and find rest, and accusation that just keeps replaying shame and keeps you stuck. Your willingness to call this sin what it is and bring it to God is the right direction, even when the feelings and the reminders don't lift right away.

If it would help, consider one quiet, concrete step this week: bring this specific sin to God in plain confession and ask for His forgiveness and help to walk differently going forward. And if you have a trusted pastor or mature believer, share it with them once so you are not carrying the accusation alone. When the reminders come, whether in your own thoughts or through others, you don't have to argue or replay them endlessly. You can briefly acknowledge them and turn your attention back to walking with the Lord today.

We are praying for you.

Jesus, we lift our friend to You. Thank You that You see their honest heart and desire to turn from this sin. Wash away shame, quiet the voice of the accuser, and give them wisdom for how to respond when others bring this up and strength to walk in a new way. Draw them close to You and give them peace as they trust You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

There is forgiveness with God, and your honest confession of rebellion against Him is heard. You have not concealed your sin but have called it what it is, and that is the first work of grace in the soul. There is forgiveness, not for this sin or for that only, but there is forgiveness with Him for all manner of sin, and that forgiveness is given not on account of the sinner but for His own sake, through the matchless Atonement which covers all your guilt.

You speak of the accuser rubbing this sin in your face, and even using certain people to do so. Know this, the enemy accuses to drive you to despair, but the Spirit convicts to drive you to Christ. When the Son removes guilt, the Spirit removes guile, and the forgiven man undergoes a change of nature. The accuser would keep you under a fearful strain, hushing conscience or tormenting it, but true conviction leads you to confess all your guilt and heartily humble yourself in the sight of God, taking the lowest place and saying from the heart, I am altogether a sinner and Christ is altogether my Saviour.

Take care that your repentance be that holy, healthy, heavenly sort which is worked in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit. A carnal repentance trembles under terror and then returns to sin, but true repentance gives God glory, owns His sovereignty to have mercy, and says, Lord, I have no claim upon You but the right to be punished, yet I look out of self to Christ and to Christ only. The repentance that ejects sin as an evil tenant and admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart is inseparable from faith. It weeps and abhors past sin because of the love of Christ which has pardoned it, and it avoids present sin because of the love of God who died for us. Let your repentance be practical, yielding works meet for repentance, not a transient sorrow but a lasting turning that cultivates heart searching and practices daily repentance with a lowly estimate of self.

Be assured that if by faith you believe in the sin forgiving God and accept His forgiveness in Christ, you are even now among the blessed. He not only forgave at the first all your sins, but He continues daily to forgive, and the forgiveness which God has given for Christ's sake is an eternal forgiveness, a complete blotting out of the debt so that it can never be pleaded against you again. What was whispered in despair may now be proclaimed with certainty, there is forgiveness, there was forgiveness, there will be forgiveness as long as life lasts, for Jesus died, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.

I pray for you now, that the Lord will lift from you the weight of accusation and set you upon the solid ground of His complete pardon. May He grant you a deep and evangelical repentance that needs not to be repented of, a faith that lays hold on Christ alone for salvation, and a renewed nature that loves holiness. May He silence the voice of the accuser by the voice of the blood of Christ which speaks better things, guard your heart against similar temptations, and give you strength to walk in practical obedience, that your life may show the power of forgiveness in a humble and watchful walk before Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honesty in bringing this sin into the light is itself a step toward healing, and I thank you for trusting us with this burden. To sin against God and then feel that sin constantly thrown back in your face, whether by your own conscience or by the words of other people, is a painful but familiar struggle for every believer.

Scripture makes a clear difference between the accusation of the enemy and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. The enemy accuses to drive you into shame and despair and to keep you hiding. The Spirit convicts to lead you into open confession and freedom. One says you are ruined and should run from God, the other says you have sinned and should run to God.

The medicine for this wound is what the Scriptures call repentance. It begins with condemning our own sin before God without excuse, saying with the psalmist, I have not hidden my iniquity, and declaring our sins honestly that we may be justified. This is not a work we do to earn forgiveness, for forgiveness is given only through Jesus Christ and His cross, but it is the way we receive what He has already purchased for us. As it is written, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

You may fear that because you have sinned after coming to know grace, there is no way back. There is not a second baptism, but repentance is never excluded for the willing heart. God has provided repentance as a spiritual bath that wipes away the stains of the soul when we turn to Him with a sincere heart. Godly sorrow, the sorrow that agrees with God about sin and turns from it, produces a repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret. It is very different from the bitter, accusing sorrow the enemy wants you to live under.

Your conscience itself shows that God has planted in you a faculty of judgment that cannot be bribed by flattery or excuses. It is painful when it accuses you, but that pain is meant to turn you toward mercy, not to keep you under condemnation. When other people bring accusations, remember that God does not judge on rumor or suspicion. He is the just Judge who sees the heart, and in Christ He also is your Advocate.

So bring this rebellion specifically before the Lord today. Name it plainly, turn from it, and ask for His cleansing. If there are practical steps of making things right with others, take them with humility and gentleness. And when the accusations come again, answer them not with argument but with the truth of what God has said about those who confess and forsake sin.

I pray for you now. Father, we come before You through Jesus Christ alone, our only hope of salvation. We thank You that Your mercy is greater than our sin. We confess before You the rebellion this dear one has named, and we ask You to forgive and cleanse according to Your promise. Grant godly sorrow that leads to full repentance and to peace without regret. Silence the voice of the accuser, guard this heart from despair, and lift the weight of shame. When other people repeat these accusations, give discernment, humility, and protection, and let conscience be healed by Your grace. Strengthen this one to walk in obedience going forward and to find rest in Your forgiveness. In the name of Jesus we ask this, amen.

Continue to walk in the light, stay close to Scripture and to faithful believers who will admonish with tenderness and not trample on you, and do not neglect to deal thoroughly with this sin before the Lord. He is ready to forgive and to restore.
