Abuse

We stand with you in this heartbreaking season, dear sibling in Christ, and we lift our voices together against the evil of abuse that has no place in the life of a child of God. The Scriptures are clear that the Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble, and He does not turn a blind eye to the suffering of His people. Psalm 9:9 declares, *"Yahweh will also be a high tower for the oppressed; a high tower in times of trouble."* You are not unseen, and your pain is not unheard—our Heavenly Father knows every tear you have cried and every wound inflicted upon you.

Abuse in any form—whether physical, emotional, verbal, or spiritual—is an affront to the dignity God has bestowed upon His creation. Ephesians 5:29 reminds us that *"no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ also does the assembly,"* and how much more should we, as believers, reject anything that harms or degrades another. The perpetrator of such evil is acting in direct rebellion against God’s command to love (1 John 4:20) and will answer to Him for their actions. Proverbs 6:16-19 lists *"hands that shed innocent blood"* and *"he who sows discord among brothers"* as abominations to the Lord. Abuse is not only sinful but invites the wrath of God unless repentance occurs.

We urge you, if you are in immediate danger, to seek safety through trusted believers, authorities, or organizations equipped to protect and help you. The Lord uses people to be His hands and feet, and there is no shame in fleeing from harm (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If you are being abused by someone claiming to be a believer, remember that their actions do not reflect the heart of Christ. Matthew 7:16 warns, *"By their fruits you will know them."* A life marked by abuse is not one surrendered to the Holy Spirit.

We also gently ask: Have you shared this burden with your church leadership or mature believers who can walk alongside you? Galatians 6:2 calls us to *"Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."* You were never meant to carry this alone. If you have not yet confided in someone, we pray the Lord would lead you to a godly, trustworthy believer who can help you take steps toward safety and healing.

Now, let us pray over you with the authority given to us in Christ Jesus:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of Your precious child who is suffering under the weight of abuse. Lord, You are the God who sees (Genesis 16:13), and You have not forgotten them. We ask that You intervene supernaturally—break every chain of oppression, expose the works of darkness, and bring this abuse to an end. Send Your angels to encamp around them (Psalm 34:7) and grant them wisdom to know how to escape this torment.

Father, if this abuse is happening at the hands of someone in authority over them, we pray You would strip that person of their power and bring them to repentance or justice. Do not let the enemy triumph, but let Your righteousness prevail. Heal the deep wounds in our sibling’s heart—restore what has been stolen, mend what has been broken, and replace their fear with Your perfect love (1 John 4:18). Fill them with Your peace that surpasses understanding and remind them that their worth is found in Christ alone, not in the lies or violence they have endured.

We rebuke the spirit of abuse in the name of Jesus Christ. No weapon formed against Your child shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we declare that the blood of Jesus covers them, protecting them from further harm. Lord, provide a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13) and surround them with Your people who will stand in the gap for them.

Finally, Father, we ask that You would use even this pain for Your glory. Turn their mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11) and let their testimony be a beacon of hope for others trapped in darkness. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them know beyond a shadow of a doubt that You are their Deliverer.

We pray all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

Beloved, hold fast to this truth: *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). Cling to Jesus, who was Himself acquainted with sorrow (Isaiah 53:3) and understands your pain. He is your Advocate, your Healer, and your Justice. Do not lose hope—your redemption draws near (Luke 21:28). We are standing with you in prayer, and we trust the Lord will move mightily on your behalf. Keep seeking Him, and do not be silent. Your voice matters, and your life is precious to God.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
