"Abba Father"

God is the Father of our very existence. We would not be here if it were not for Him creating us and sustaining us. Therefore we can enjoy the privilege” of just being.

It is for this reason the psalmist writes, “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker” (Psalms 95:6). All of creation owes God praise, submission, and our allegiance, because of His unique position as our maker and creator: (Isaiah 64:8) O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Our obligation to God is made so plain and so complete that in the book of Isaiah, there is sorrow awaiting all those who question His authority: (Isaiah 45:9-10) (NLT) “What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’ 10 How terrible it would be if a newborn baby said to its father, ‘Why was I born?’ or if it said to its mother, ‘Why did you make me this way?’”

This is unthinkable but many today unfortunately do this very thing.

Have you felt the Spirit of God drawing you to repentance lately and to closer and a deeper trust in Him? If you have then you are in a unique position today, as Paul describes in (Romans 8:15): “ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” Abba Father in Aramaic is a more intimate term used meaning Daddy, Dear Father, or Papa. I just love the term: Spirit of adoption, meaning not just born but hand selected. What an awesome thought that is. He chose us, (John 15:16)

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Jesus encourages those of us who are adopted into Gods family, to address Him in prayer in this manner: “Our Father", which art in heaven, (making Him more personal) .” Much more than the privilege of our very existence here, is the precious gift of salvation granted to us! It is by the perfect work of Christ death on the cross we are enabled to call this awesome God of the universeOur Father.” Think on that today for a while and be blessed!

Being a Christian is far more than just speaking the words. God wants an intimate relationship with his children. He wants our love and our obedience. We've been chosen for a purpose. Jesus left some very clear directions to his disciples Go, Ye, Teach! When I began to remove the focus from me to honoring Him, my life began to change. Let me share this story. What delivered me from the hands of an abusive earthly father was my intimate relationship with Abba Father. Abba Father always made me feel wanted, loved, and respected. My relationship with Abba Father helped me grow into forgiveness and learning to love and accept my earthly father. While my earthly father layed in the hospital nearing death, the Lord directed me in the early hours of a Sunday morning to go to the hospital and minister to my father. I read the 23rd Psalm. In that moment, he awake from his deep sleep and began to recite the words with me. I told him that God is not going to free him to enter heaven until he released some things on earth. I told him that I wanted him to forgive me and that I forgave him. He then said, "I love you." I had never heard those words spoken to me in my life. I love and miss my earthly father but i do believe that he's now at home with ABBA Father. I know that God loves me. Even when I go through stuff, he still loves me. That, I have no doubt and will never doubt him. That's why I "praise you, I lift you up, and I magnify your name. That's why my heart is filled with praise."
