We come before you with hearts full of gratitude that you have sought the Lord’s forgiveness, for it is written, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9, WEB). Your desire for forgiveness is a testament to the Holy Spirit’s work in your life, drawing you closer to repentance and restoration. We rejoice that you have called upon the name of Jesus Christ, for *"there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is only through Him that we can boldly approach the throne of grace and receive mercy.
Yet we must also ask: what are the sins weighing on your heart that you seek forgiveness for? The Lord already knows, but confessing them openly before Him—and, if necessary, to a trusted brother or sister in Christ—brings freedom. *"He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."* (Proverbs 28:13, WEB). If there is unconfessed sin, especially in areas like relationships (such as fornication, adultery, or any form of sexual immorality), idolatry, dishonesty, or bitterness, we urge you to lay it all before the Lord. He is waiting to cleanse you completely.
Perhaps there is also a need to seek forgiveness from others you may have wronged. Jesus teaches us, *"If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift."* (Matthew 5:23-24, WEB). True repentance often involves making things right with those we’ve hurt.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up your child before You, thanking You that they have come humbly to seek Your forgiveness through the precious name of Jesus Christ. Lord, we ask that You would search their heart and reveal any hidden sin, any area where they have not fully surrendered to You. Grant them the courage to confess, repent, and turn away from all unrighteousness. Wash them clean by the blood of the Lamb and renew a right spirit within them. If there are broken relationships that need restoration, give them wisdom and humility to seek reconciliation where possible.
Fill them with the assurance of Your love and forgiveness, that they may walk in the freedom and joy of Your salvation. Strengthen them to live a life that honors You, empowered by Your Holy Spirit. May they grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, walking in obedience to Your Word. We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
We encourage you to spend time in Scripture, particularly the Psalms of repentance (such as Psalm 32 and Psalm 51) and the letters of John, which remind us of God’s faithfulness to forgive. If there is a specific sin or struggle you’d like prayer for, we are here to stand with you in intercession. Remember, *"the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* (Psalm 34:18, WEB). You are not alone in this journey—He is with you, and so are we.
