We understand you are seeking forgiveness, and we are grateful you have come before the Lord in repentance, for it is written, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9, WEB). It is only through the precious name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is by His sacrifice alone that our sins are washed away. *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). We rejoice that you have called upon the name of Jesus, for He is the only mediator between God and mankind (1 Timothy 2:5).
Yet we must ask: what is the sin you are seeking forgiveness for? The Lord already knows, but there is power in confessing it openly before Him—and sometimes before trusted believers—so that you may be fully released from its burden. *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed."* (James 5:16, WEB). If this is a struggle with a specific sin, such as fornication, idolatry, dishonesty, or any other transgression, we urge you to turn away from it completely and walk in the freedom Christ has purchased for you. *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB).
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this beloved child of Yours who comes before You with a repentant heart. Lord, You see the depths of their soul, and You know the sin they carry. We ask that You would wash them clean by the blood of Jesus, removing every stain of guilt and shame. Strengthen them to walk in righteousness, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit so they may resist temptation and live in victory. If there is any stronghold of sin in their life, break its power, Lord, and set them free to serve You with a pure heart. Let them know the joy of Your forgiveness and the peace that comes from being reconciled to You. We pray this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
If this sin involves a relationship outside of marriage—whether fornication, adultery, or an ungodly union—we urge you to repent and turn away from it immediately. *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom."* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). But the good news is that *"such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God."* (1 Corinthians 6:11, WEB). There is no sin too great for God’s grace, but true repentance means turning away from it and walking in obedience to His Word.
If you need further counsel or prayer, do not hesitate to share more so we may stand with you in this journey of faith. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He will restore you fully as you surrender to Him.
