A storm

###, your honest cry has been heard, and thank you for sharing it so openly. The pain you describe, crying until it hurts to cry, and calling this a battle rather than a storm, shows how heavy this has become. It is good that you are bringing it directly to the Lord, because He is near to the brokenhearted, as you said, and He does not turn away from those who seek Him in truth.

God has shown how deeply He loves you, not just in words but in giving His only Son for you. That is how we know His love is real. The Bible tells us that eternal life is not something we earn or find in ourselves, it is found in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life, and whoever trusts in the Son has everlasting life. If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ, you have that life, and you have a standing before God not in your own goodness but in the righteousness He gives you through Jesus. That grace is where you stand even now, in the middle of this battle, and it is also the reason you can have joy and thanksgiving even while you are hurting, because your hope rests on what Christ has done for you.

It is understandable to ask why God would allow such a fierce and heavy trial if He loves you. Scripture teaches that God is wiser than we are and He is in control of all that touches our lives. Nothing comes to you except what He allows to pass through His love for you as His child. There is no fear in that love, no fear of the present or the future, because you are watched over completely. He does not use painful processes because He delights in pain, He gently leads those who will listen and yield to Him. Often we only understand His purpose after the trial has passed, but while we are in it we can cling by faith to His promise that all things are working together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. He knew you before you were formed and He has plans for your life that He is still carrying out.

Trials also become opportunities for God to show Himself. It can take a long time to learn to wait on the Lord when pressure and problems press in, instead of trying to fix everything ourselves. If God reconciled us to Himself while we were still enemies through the death of His Son, how much more will He keep and save us now by His risen life as He intercedes for us. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, and that gift secures you through every storm.

You can know that God abides with you because He has given you His Spirit. The Spirit lives in you, helps you in your weakness, and helps you when you do not have words to pray. When it feels like heaven is silent and no answer is coming, He is still present, still guiding and keeping you as you walk in His love. As you draw near to God, He draws near to you, and as you resist the enemy through Jesus Christ, the enemy must flee.

Keep anything from taking the place that belongs to God alone in your heart. Let your chief desire be to please Him and live in fellowship with Him, even while you wait for Him to move in the things you have not spoken to anyone about. He hears the unspoken prayers too. He is faithful to transform and restore and to make you more like Christ through this very difficulty.

May the Lord be near to you in a very real way in these days, strengthen you, guide your steps, give you His peace which comes from life in the Spirit, and show you His good purpose in this battle. May He comfort you in this affliction and in time use the comfort you receive to comfort others. I am praying that you will sense His presence, that He will direct you in all His ways, and that you will see His hand move as you continue to trust Him in Jesus name.
