Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart so openly. Your desire for forgiveness, healing, and a close walk with God is precious to Him, and He hears you when you call on Jesus.
Forgiveness rests on the everlasting covenant God made through Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned because we are deserving, but given by grace through faith in Him. When you trust in Jesus, God counts you righteous because of what Christ has done, not because of what you have done. That is the ground for peace when you ask for forgiveness for yourself and when you pray for others. There is one God and one way to Him, through His Son who bore our sins.
You asked for healing from binge eating, for weight loss, and for your heart to be well each day. Scripture shows that Jesus cares for both soul and body. Matthew takes the words of Isaiah, surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, and applies them to physical sickness, saying Jesus bore our infirmities and sicknesses. When Jesus broke bread and said this is my body broken for you, He was pointing to that complete work for spirit and body. That is why we can bring our bodies to Him in prayer with confidence.
At the same time the Bible keeps us from presuming that healing must always come instantly or in the way we expect. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh to be removed, and God answered with grace to sustain him rather than immediate removal. Jesus Himself healed in different ways, sometimes with a touch, sometimes with a word from a distance, sometimes instantly and once gradually. Any true healing is from God, whether it comes in a moment or through the natural processes He built into our bodies. Those processes themselves are His divine provision.
So bring your struggle with eating to Him honestly each day. Your spirituality is not measured by what you eat, as if one food makes you more holy than another. Yet your body matters to God, and He invites you to walk in wisdom and self control as you depend on Him. Healing of habits and appetites often comes as a gradual work in both body and mind, and He is able to heal emotional wounds and thought patterns as well as physical needs. If you have not already, it is wise to seek skilled medical and counseling help alongside prayer, trusting God to work through those means too. Ask Him for strength for today, for help to steward your health, and for peace to trust His timing and His will for your heart.
You prayed for God to erase hurt and to erase a young man from your mind so you can heal, and for Him to take control. God does bring healing to the heart and mind, but often He does it by filling the heart with Himself rather than by simply erasing a memory on command. As we share life with Christ, we become one with Him. Scripture pictures this like sharing one loaf of bread, where all who eat from the same loaf share one life. When you abide in Jesus, partake of His Word, and commune with Him in prayer, His life nourishes you and His love displaces what has wounded you. Surrendering control to Him is not losing your life, but placing it in the safest hands. Day by day He can soften painful thoughts, renew your mind, and give you His peace to guard your heart.
Your longing to know His love and to have a special divine connection with Him is answered in that same union with Christ. He is near to all who call on Him through Jesus. You do not have to earn that nearness. Come to Him openly, confess your needs, thank Him for His mercy, and remain in Him.
You also prayed for the best possible life here and in heaven, and to know heaven even now. Eternal life begins now for those in Christ, and its joy grows as you walk with Him each moment. That does not mean every second will feel blessed, but it does mean His presence can be with you every second, to keep what is good, to restrain what is evil, and to lead you in His love.
May the Lord grant you assurance of forgiveness in Jesus, daily grace for your body and mind, healing according to His perfect wisdom, and a deeper sharing in the life of Christ. May He heal the hurts in your heart, give you freedom in your thoughts, guide you toward wholeness in your eating and health, and fill each day with His love and control as you trust Him.
