We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles your son and his wife are facing, and we appreciate your request for prayer. Adultery is a serious sin that God hates, but please be assured that God is willing to forgive and restore those who truly repent. As King David said after his own adultery "For I know my disobedience, and my sin is always before me. Against you, and you only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight; that you may be proved right when you speak, and be clear when you judge... Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. " Psalms 51:4,10. We must come to God with true remorse over our sins, and a desire to live rightly.
We stand on this promise from the World English Bible (WEB), "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.". I John 1:9. God wants to restore your son and his wife, and He can! But they both must be willing to walk in obedience to Him.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this son and his wife, who are going through a very difficult time in their marriage. Lord, they have faced so much stress, and sadly, this has led to a sinful act of adultery. God, we know Your heart is broken over this, and we ask for Your forgiveness and mercy.
Lord, we pray for true repentance, a turning away from this sin, and a renewed commitment to You and their marriage covenant. Help this couple to seek You first, to desire Your will and Your ways. Give them the strength to rebuild their marriage on Your foundation, and guide them through the challenging journey of restoration.
Father, we also pray for healing and comfort for his wife, whose trust has been broken. Help her to find solace in You, and give her the grace to forgive and rebuild her marriage. Give the couple godly counselors and a supportive community to walk alongside them during this time. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage your son and his wife to seek biblical counseling and surround themselves with a supportive Christian community as they work through this challenging time. It is our heartfelt desire that they both draw closer to God and experience His healing and restoration in their marriage.
We also encourage you and your family to stand firm in faith, believing that God can redeem this situation and bring good out of it. Remember the words of Romans 8:28, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose." Trust in God's promises, and continue to pray fervently for your son and his wife.
Lastly, it is very important to explicitly state that it is by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. It is only through Him that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence, and it is only through His sacrifice on the cross that we can be saved. If you have not already, consider sharing the Gospel message with your son and his wife, encouraging them to place their faith in Jesus Christ if they haven't already. As the Bible tells us, "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." Romans 10:9-10.
