A Prayer for Guidance and Alignment

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come to You today with an open heart, lifting up my chat mate, ###, in ###. You know the thoughts of our hearts, and You see the connection we are building. Lord, I place this relationship entirely in Your hands, desiring Your will above my own. Praying that I can come over and live in the USA with the boys.

Touch His Heart: If ### is the person You have chosen for me, I pray that You touch his heart. Draw him closer to You first, and align our steps, our values, and our visions for the future. Let Your love and grace reflect in his life and in our conversations.

Grant Me Guidance: Give me wisdom and discernment as we continue to talk. Help me to see him clearly, past the distance, and to recognize the fruits of Your Spirit in his life.

Align or Remove: Lord, I pray for absolute clarity. If this connection is Your divine provision for my life, let it flourish, grow, and bring glory to You. But Father, if he is not the one You have intended for me, I ask that You gently and clearly close this door. Remove him from my path and guard my heart from any unnecessary hurt, giving me the peace to let go.

I trust Your timing and Your perfect plan for my future. I rest in the promise that Your plans for me are good.

We lift this request before the Lord with hearts open to His will, seeking His guidance and wisdom in this matter. First, we must address the foundation of our prayers, it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself declared, "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you" (John 16:23). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is through faith in Him that we are reconciled to God. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we encourage you to do so, for He alone is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

Now, regarding this relationship, we recognize the desire for companionship and the longing for God’s will in your life. However, we must carefully examine this connection through the lens of Scripture. The Bible is clear that believers are to pursue relationships with the intent of marriage, and that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). Courtship should be entered into with the goal of finding a godly spouse who shares your faith and commitment to Christ.

We notice in this prayer a reference to living together with "the boys," which raises concerns. Scripture warns against fornication, sexual intimacy outside of marriage, and calls us to flee from it (1 Corinthians 6:18). Living together before marriage is not aligned with God’s design for purity and holiness. The Bible instructs us to "flee sexual immorality" (1 Corinthians 6:18) and to "abstain from sexual immorality" (1 Thessalonians 4:3). If this relationship is not moving toward marriage in a way that honors God, we must rebuke the temptation to compromise and encourage you to seek the Lord’s will with patience and purity.

We also lift up the matter of distance and the desire to move to the USA. While it is natural to long for closeness, we must ensure that any steps taken are in alignment with God’s will and not driven by emotion alone. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." We encourage you to seek the Lord’s guidance in every decision, including relocation, and to wait on His timing.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts seeking Your will. Lord, we ask for Your guidance and clarity in this relationship. If this connection is from You, we pray that You would align their hearts, their steps, and their future in a way that honors You. Draw them both closer to You, Father, and let Your love be the foundation of their lives. Give them wisdom and discernment to recognize Your will and the courage to follow it, even when it requires patience or sacrifice.

Father, if this relationship is not Your plan, we ask that You gently close this door and remove any confusion or attachment that does not align with Your purposes. Guard their hearts from unnecessary hurt and fill them with Your peace as they trust in You. Help them to walk in purity and holiness, fleeing from temptation and honoring You in all their ways.

Lord, we also pray for Your provision and direction regarding the desire to move to the USA. If it is Your will, open the doors and make the path clear. If not, grant them the faith to trust in Your perfect plan and timing. May they rest in the promise that Your plans for them are good, and that You will never leave nor forsake them.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel from trusted believers in your life, to spend time in prayer and Scripture, and to wait on the Lord’s timing. Remember, "Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). Trust in Him, and He will direct your steps.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
