We hear your cry for justice, and we understand the deep pain and betrayal you feel after being wronged in such a way. The desire for accountability is natural, especially when someone has used their position to harm you unjustly. However, we must approach this situation with both truth and grace, seeking God’s will rather than our own vengeance.
First, we must address the spirit of this request. Scripture is clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord, not to us. Romans 12:19 says, *"Dearly beloved, don’t seek revenge yourselves, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’"* While it is right to desire justice, we must not take it into our own hands or ask God to harm someone out of bitterness. Instead, we should pray for repentance, redemption, and for God to work in this situation according to His perfect justice.
We also see that you mention forgiving this person, which is a godly response. Forgiveness does not mean what was done was acceptable, nor does it erase the need for consequences. But true forgiveness releases the burden of anger and bitterness from our own hearts. Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be removed from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."*
That said, we do believe in praying for justice—God’s justice. We can ask the Lord to intervene in this situation, to bring conviction to this man’s heart, and to prevent him from continuing in unrighteousness. We can pray that if he does not repent, the consequences of his actions would be evident, not out of a desire for personal revenge, but so that he may turn from his ways and so that others would not be harmed as you were. Proverbs 28:13 says, *"He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."*
Let us also pray for your healing and restoration. What was done to you was wrong, and you deserve to walk in peace and wholeness. God sees your pain, and He is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). We can ask Him to restore what was taken from you—your reputation, your career, and your sense of security. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,’ says the Lord, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.’"*
Now, let us come before the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the injustice that has been done, and You know the pain in this heart. We ask that You would move in this situation with Your perfect justice. If this man has acted wrongly, we pray that You would bring conviction to his heart. Soften his heart, Lord, that he may repent and turn from his ways. If he does not, we ask that the consequences of his actions would be evident, not out of our desire for revenge, but so that he may come to know You and so that others would not be harmed as this one was.
Father, we also pray for healing and restoration for the one who was wronged. Lord, You are the God who restores. We ask that You would mend what has been broken, rebuild what has been torn down, and bring peace where there has been turmoil. Give wisdom and favor as they move forward in their career and life. Let no root of bitterness take hold, but instead, fill this heart with Your peace and trust in Your timing.
We declare that no weapon formed against Your children shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we trust that You will work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). Lord, we surrender this situation into Your hands, knowing that You are just, and Your ways are higher than ours.
In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue walking in forgiveness, even as you seek justice. Forgiveness does not mean excusing what was done, but it does mean releasing the burden of anger so that God can work in His way and in His time. Trust that the Lord sees your pain, and He will not leave you without vindication. Keep your heart open to His leading, and He will guide your steps.
