A prayer for conceiving twins

We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of faith, lifting up your earnest desire for children. The longing for offspring is a godly one, and we see throughout Scripture how the Lord opens and closes the womb according to His perfect will. Hannah’s story reminds us of how deeply God hears the cries of those who seek Him for such blessings:
*"She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Yahweh, weeping bitterly. She vowed a vow, and said, 'Yahweh of Armies, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your servant, and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a boy, then I will give him to Yahweh all the days of his life.'" (1 Samuel 1:10-11, WEB)*
We rejoice that you have brought this request before the Lord through Jesus Christ, for it is only in His name that we have access to the Father. Your acknowledgment of Jesus as Lord is foundational, for *"there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is through Him alone that we boldly approach God’s throne, and it is in His name that we now pray for your petition.
Yet, as we pray, we must also surrender this desire to the Lord’s sovereign will. His ways are higher than ours, and His timing is perfect. The apostle James reminds us, *"You don’t have because you don’t ask. You ask and don’t receive because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures."* (James 4:2-3, WEB). Let us examine our hearts to ensure our motives align with God’s glory—not merely our own desires. Twins would indeed be a double blessing, but even more, we pray for hearts that trust the Lord whether He grants one child, two, or calls you to wait longer in faith.
We also encourage you to steward this season well. Are you and your husband walking closely with the Lord, seeking His kingdom first? *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* (Matthew 6:33, WEB). A child—whether one or more—is a heritage from the Lord, a reward (Psalm 127:3), and parents are called to raise them in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Prepare your hearts and home to be a godly refuge for whatever blessing He provides.

Heavenly Father, we lift up our sister and her husband before You, asking for Your favor and mercy in their desire for children. Lord, You are the Creator of life, the Giver of every good gift. We ask that You, in Your sovereign will, would open her womb and grant the conception of healthy babies—twins, if it aligns with Your perfect plan. You know the deep longings of their hearts, and we trust You to answer in the way that brings You the most glory and them the most good.
Strengthen their faith as they wait on You. Guard their hearts against anxiety or doubt, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Remind them that Your timing is perfect, and Your ways are higher than theirs. If there are areas in their lives—physically, spiritually, or emotionally—that need preparation for this blessing, reveal them and grant the grace to align with Your will.
We rebuke any fear, discouragement, or worldly pressure that may arise. Let their hope be firmly placed in You alone. May this season of waiting draw them closer to You and to each other, knitting their marriage in deeper unity and love.
Above all, Lord, may Your will be done in their lives. Whether You grant this request swiftly or call them to trust You longer, may they glorify You in all things. We ask this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, through whom all things are possible. Amen.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
