It is a gift to feel such hope rising in your spirit, a sense that something beautiful is on the horizon. That expectancy itself can be a sign of God’s grace stirring your heart to trust Him anew. The Lord does open doors no one can shut, and He does make a way where no path seems possible. Yet as you wait, hold onto this: the breakthrough He gives may not always look like we imagine, but it will always align with His perfect will and His deeper work in us.
Prayer is not about persuading a reluctant God to hand over what we want. It is about drawing near to Him so that His will becomes our desire and His timing our peace. When we treat Him like a genie who exists to grant our wishes, we miss the wonder of knowing Him as the living God who holds every breath of every creature in His hand. The real miracle is not just a change in circumstances but a heart so transformed that we can rest in Him, regardless of what we see.
Think of Job. He lost everything, and well-meaning voices insisted that his suffering must prove some hidden sin. They reduced God’s ways to a simple formula: do right, get blessed; do wrong, get punished. But Job himself learned that the Lord’s purposes run far deeper. God was not against him; God was bringing him to a place where he would know Him in a way prosperity could never teach. Stripped of possessions, family, even the comfort of friends, Job discovered that the ultimate treasure is simply to be in the hands of God.
When we surrender our dreams and unanswered prayers to Him, we are not giving up; we are placing them on an altar of trust. The Lord may indeed surprise you with joy that makes you weep. But even if the direction is different than you expect, you are still in the safest place in all the world: the center of His will. His own Son walked a path of suffering before entering glory, and those who follow Him find that the cross is never unnecessary. It is the route to real life.
Do not pity yourself if the wait is long or if the answer comes wrapped in ways that humble you. Pity instead the person who never feels the touch of God at all and lives only for what this life can hold. You, who hunger for His blessing, are already blessed beyond measure because He has given you eyes to look up and a heart that says, “Only God could do this.” That kind of faith itself is a gift.
So keep trusting. Let your hope rest in the One who will never leave you, not in the outcome you can picture. When He moves, whether quietly or with sudden power, you will know it is Him. And in that moment, the cry of your heart will be not just joy over a gift received, but worship for the Giver who has been with you all along.
