A man and his mother and his family seem to want bad things to happen to his ex.

Beloved of All
A man and his mother and his family seem to want bad things to happen to his ex-fiancée. The man is infatuated with how his mom became a widow and always spoke that he was a widow on social media, dating sites. When he was with his ex, then he called off their wedding and they went their separate ways. He makes fun of her when she is trying to meet someone new and says the guy she may meet might be sick.

We are deeply grieved to hear of this situation, where bitterness, resentment, and even what appears to be a spirit of witchcraft or curses are at work in this man’s heart and his family. The Scripture is clear that we are to bless and not curse, to seek peace and not vengeance, and to trust the Lord with our justice rather than taking matters into our own hands. The behavior described here is not only unhealthy but outright sinful—rooted in pride, jealousy, and a refusal to let go of the past. The Lord says in **Romans 12:17-21 (WEB):**

*"Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek vengeance yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.' Therefore 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.' Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."*

First, we must address the spiritual danger in this man’s life and his family’s involvement. To delight in the misfortune of another—or worse, to *wish* for it—is to invite the enemy’s influence. The Bible warns in **Proverbs 26:2 (WEB):** *"Like a fluttering sparrow, like a darting swallow, so the undeserved curse doesn’t come to rest."* Curses spoken without cause will not prosper, but that does not mean they are without consequence for the one speaking them. **James 3:10 (WEB)** asks, *"Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so."* This man and his family are playing with fire, and unless they repent, they will reap what they sow (**Galatians 6:7-8**).

His obsession with his late father’s widowhood and his own self-identification as a "widow" is deeply concerning. This suggests an unhealthy emotional and possibly spiritual attachment to his mother, bordering on idolatry or an unnatural bond that has replaced his ability to form godly relationships. The Bible commands in **Genesis 2:24 (WEB):** *"Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh."* A man who cannot emotionally separate from his mother will struggle to fulfill this command. His mockery of his ex-fiancée’s attempts to move on reveals a heart that is not only bitter but *controlled* by bitterness. **Hebrews 12:15 (WEB)** warns: *"Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it."*

As for the ex-fiancée, we encourage her to guard her heart and her mind. The enemy would love to use this man’s words to discourage her or make her doubt God’s goodness in her future. But the Lord has a plan for her—one that includes redemption, healing, and a godly spouse if that is His will. **Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB)** reminds us: *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* She must not allow this man’s taunts to define her worth or her future. Instead, she should commit her ways to the Lord, trusting that He will bring justice and restoration in His time.

We also urge her to examine her own heart. Is there any lingering bitterness or unforgiveness toward this man? **Ephesians 4:31-32 (WEB)** commands: *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* Forgiveness does not mean what he did was right; it means releasing him to God’s judgment and refusing to let his sins poison her heart.

Now, let us pray over this situation:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this broken and painful situation. Lord, we ask that You would intervene in the heart of this man who is harboring bitterness, resentment, and even curses against his ex-fiancée. Father, convict him by Your Holy Spirit. Show him the danger of the path he is on—that his words and his heart are grieving You. Break the ungodly soul ties between him and his mother, Lord. Set him free from any spiritual strongholds of idolatry, control, or perversion that have taken root in his life. Let him see the truth: that his mockery and his wishes for harm are sinful and will bring judgment upon himself if he does not repent.

We pray for his family as well, Lord. If they are encouraging this behavior, open their eyes to the destruction they are sowing. Let them see that curses do not go unanswered—that what they wish upon others, they invite upon themselves. Turn their hearts to repentance, Father. Let them seek Your forgiveness and make amends where possible.

Lord, we lift up this ex-fiancée to You. Guard her heart, mind, and spirit from the arrows of the enemy. Let her not be discouraged by this man’s words or his attempts to sabotage her future. Surround her with godly counsel, supportive friends, and a community that will speak life into her. If it is Your will, Lord, bring a godly man into her life—a man who will cherish her, honor You, and lead her closer to Christ. But even if that is not Your immediate plan, let her find her fulfillment in You alone. Heal the wounds from this broken relationship, Lord. Restore her joy, her confidence, and her hope in Your goodness.

We rebuke any spirit of bitterness, jealousy, or witchcraft at work in this situation. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we bind every curse spoken against this woman and declare that no weapon formed against her will prosper (**Isaiah 54:17**). We loose Your peace, Your protection, and Your favor over her life. Let her be a testimony of Your redemption, Father.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would bring conviction to all involved. Let them see the gravity of their actions and turn to You in repentance. Soften hearts, break chains, and let Your will be done in every life touched by this situation. We ask all this in the powerful and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We're here for you, dear sister. It's heartbreaking to see the bitterness and resentment consuming this man and his family. Let's not forget, Jesus said, "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy" (Matthew 5:7). Let's pray for mercy, not just for the ex-fiancée, but for all involved.

Dear Lord, we come before You, broken but hopeful. We lift up this man and his family. Lord, touch their hearts. Reveal to them the poison of bitterness and the freedom of forgiveness. Help them understand that their words and actions have consequences, but You are a God of second chances. Convict them, Lord, but also fill them with Your love and compassion.

For our sister here, Lord, we ask for Your healing and restoration. Shield her heart from further hurt. Help her to forgive, not because what happened was okay, but because it's what You command. Fill her life with Your peace, joy, and purpose. If it's Your will, Lord, bring a godly man into her life, someone who will cherish her and lead her closer to You. But even if that's not Your plan right now, let her find her fulfillment in You alone.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for trusting us to lift this heavy burden before the Lord with you. It has been our honor to stand in the gap, praying for God’s protection over your ex-fiancée, for His peace to guard her heart, and for His wisdom to guide her steps as she moves forward. We’ve also been interceding for the man and his family, asking the Lord to soften their hearts, to break the spirit of bitterness and malice, and to bring conviction where there is cruelty or ungodly influence. Most of all, we’ve prayed for God’s redemptive power to work in this situation—whether through reconciliation, repentance, or His perfect justice—so that His will might prevail and His name might be glorified.

If the Lord has brought resolution or protection in this situation, we’d love for you to share a praise report with us. There is such joy in celebrating how God moves in response to the prayers of His people! If this struggle is ongoing, or if new challenges have arisen, we invite you to post an update so we can continue to contend for this situation in prayer. The enemy seeks to bring division and harm, but we serve a God who is mighty to save, heal, and restore. Let us keep pressing in together, trusting that He hears and that He will act in His perfect timing.

We’re also praying for *you*—that the Lord would guard your heart from anger, resentment, or fear as you navigate this difficult season. May He fill you with His peace, remind you of His sovereignty, and use this trial to deepen your dependence on Him. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

May the Lord bless you richly as you seek His face and trust in His unfailing love through Jesus Christ. We are here, standing with you in faith.
