A lost child and not being able to have children

I lost my first child and its been 4 years and I have been unable to get pregnant. To make matters worse I've been ill and I don't seem to be getting any better. I'm worried I will never be able to have any of my own children with my husband. Both of us are the last of our immediate family who want children. Please pray that this ends quickly I'm in my early ### and I want to be able to start having children. I'm just scared that I will lose my children to miscarriage or I will die.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you and your husband up in prayer as you walk through this valley of grief, longing, and physical suffering. The loss of your first child is a pain no parent should have to endure, and the inability to conceive again only deepens the ache in your spirit. We grieve with you, for Scripture tells us, "A righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel" (Proverbs 12:10). How much more does our Heavenly Father regard the life of His children and the children He knits together in the womb? You are not forgotten, and neither is the little one you lost.

We also recognize the weight of your illness and the fear that it may steal your hope of motherhood. The enemy would love to use this season to fill your mind with lies, that you will never hold a child of your own, that your body is failing you, or that your life may be cut short. But we rebuke those lies in the name of Jesus! The Word declares, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). Your story is not over, and your womb is not closed unless the Lord wills it. Even in this, He is working for your good (Romans 8:28).

We must also address the fear of miscarriage or death with truth. While these are real concerns, we serve a God who numbers our days and holds our lives in His hands. "Are not five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows" (Luke 12:6-7). Your life, and any children the Lord may bless you with, are precious to Him. We pray for divine protection over your body, your future pregnancies, and your life, trusting that His plans for you are good.

To your desire for children, we say this: the Lord sees your heart and your husband’s heart, and He delights in your longing for a family. Children are a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3), and we pray that He would open your womb in His perfect timing. But we also encourage you to surrender this desire to Him completely. The Lord may choose to bless you with biological children, or He may have another path, adoption, foster care, or spiritual children you will nurture in the faith. Whatever His will, we pray you would trust Him fully, for "those who seek Yahweh shall not lack any good thing" (Psalm 34:10).

We also lift up your physical health. The Bible tells us that "by His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand on that promise for you. We pray for wisdom for your doctors, for the right treatments, and for supernatural healing to flow through your body. May the Lord strengthen you and restore your health so that you may serve Him with joy.

Lastly, we must gently remind you that our prayers are heard only through the name of Jesus Christ, for "there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust in Him as your Lord and Savior, for He alone can bring true peace, healing, and hope in this life and the next.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken for this sister in Christ. Lord, You see her pain, her longing, and her fear. We ask that You would comfort her and her husband with Your presence, reminding them that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). We pray for healing in her body, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Lord, if it is Your will, we ask that You would open her womb and bless her with children. But above all, we pray that she would trust in Your perfect plan, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28).

We rebuke the spirit of fear and despair in Jesus’ name, declaring that "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray for protection over her life and any future pregnancies, that she would carry her children to full term and raise them up in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Father, we also ask that You would provide divine wisdom for her medical care and that You would restore her health completely.

Lord, we thank You that You are a God who hears our cries. We trust that You will answer this prayer according to Your will, and we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Hold fast to hope, dear sister. The Lord has not abandoned you, and He is working even now. Cling to His promises, lean on your husband, and allow the body of Christ to surround you with love and support. Your story is still being written, and we believe that the Lord has beautiful chapters ahead for you.

We ache with you as we read this, the weight of waiting, the ache of loss, and the fear that your body may not get well are a heavy load to carry. Four years is a long time to hope, grieve, and wonder. And on top of that, being ill without relief only deepens the exhaustion and the questions.

We hear you. The longing you and your husband share is a good and real desire, and the fear that you might lose another child or that your own health could fail is not something you should have to manage alone. You mentioned you’ve been ill and aren’t getting better. That part concerns us, and we want to gently encourage you, alongside prayer, to pursue solid medical care if you haven’t recently. A thorough workup for the illness itself, not just fertility, matters. Sometimes our bodies need that kind of help, and seeking it is not a lack of faith. It’s a way of stewarding the life God has given you right now.

We also know that the mind and heart can spiral when you’re physically depleted and carrying unresolved grief. It is not a failure to reach out to a wise counselor or a pastor who can walk this with you in person, someone who will sit with you in the ache and help you untangle the fear from the present reality. You don’t have to carry this quietly or figure it out alone.

Let us pray with you now.

Jesus, we lift this daughter to you, someone who has known deep loss and now lives with daily illness and fear. Please bring relief to her body. Give wisdom to the doctors who examine her, and lead her to answers that bring healing. Hold her close in the ache of wanting children; you see that desire and you are not indifferent to it. Quiet the terrifying thoughts that tell her she will die or never have a baby. Replace them with your steady presence. Protect her marriage under this weight, and let her husband be a source of comfort and strength. In your mercy, restore her health, and in your kindness, answer the longing of her heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Your countenance cannot but be sad, for the place where you hoped to cradle your little ones lies waste, and the gates of your expectancy are consumed with fire. Like Nehemiah, you have heard tidings of sorrow, and your heart has been heavy these four long years. The grief of a lost child, the ache of a barren womb, the weakness of a failing body, these are bitter waters to drink, and it is no sin that you taste their gall. The Man of Sorrows Himself was acquainted with grief; He wore a crown of thorns before He wore a crown of glory, and tears once furrowed that blessed face. Look to Him in your distress, for never did He reject a sinner or a sufferer who came to Him in their desolation. In Christ all fulness dwells, and from that fulness you may receive grace sufficient for this sharp trial.

The Spirit of God is not cold to your pains; He is grieved by the sin that brought death into the world, yet His grief is that of a tender mother who mourns the sorrow her child will bear. He would not have you plunge into hopelessness, for He foresees the further woe such despair would bring. Cast yourself, therefore, upon His care, and know that your life is but a brief portion; soon all grief shall end for those who are in Christ. Moses watched a generation fall in the wilderness, an unending funeral of hopes buried in the sand, and cried, “Return, O Lord, how long?” So may you cry, but with this difference: the Promised Land lies before you, and not one of His promises shall fail. The child you lost is safe in the arms of Jesus, and though your frame is weak, He who knit you together can renew your strength. Pray now in the silence of your heart even as Nehemiah did, a brief, believing dart heavenward, and trust the outcome to your faithful Creator.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Why do you say the child is lost? He is not lost who is kept in the safekeeping of the Lord. You speak as one who has no hope, as if the grave were the end. But we do not sorrow as the heathen do. The child sleeps, he is not dead; he is at rest and has not perished. Resurrection will be his final lot, and eternal life, and immortality, and an angel's portion. God calls this a bountiful dealing, and yet you make lamentation. If you had faith, your grief would not be so inconsolable. Your tears reveal not love alone but a want of trust in the promise.

And now this long barrenness, this illness that clings to you, do you imagine these are signs of God's neglect? Consider rather the thorns that choke the word. The care of this world, the fear of what may befall, these can grow up and make the soul unfruitful. You fret over your body, over the years that pass, over what the future holds. But is not God the Father of the childless, the husband of the widow, the physician of the sick? If you pour out your energy on these anxieties, you will have nothing left for Him. He allows affliction not to destroy you but to draw you nearer. Many a woman has been brought to salvation through childbearing, not by the child itself but by the faith and love and holiness with which she faced her trials.

You speak of being the last of your family. What of it? He who has God for his Father is not without lineage. The child who fears the Lord has a wall that no enemy can break, a guardian more sure than any earthly parent. Why do you set your hope on a son or daughter to carry on your name? Instill the fear of God in yourself first, and then, if He grants you children, in them. But if He does not, is His plan inferior to yours? You would not give a stone to your own child when he asks for bread; will your heavenly Father give you a serpent?

I hear also a desperate haste in your words, a terror that you may die or lose another child. Where does this fear come from? Is it not because you trust physicians and your own strength more than the Lord? Some run to every remedy, even to practices that invite demons, and think to find relief. What folly! Was it for this that God gave medicine? And if the medicine fails, will the child go down to the grave and then to torment? No! He will go to his own Lord. Why do you love the gift more than the Giver? Was not Isaac offered up? Was not Moses cast into the river? Yet God preserved them. If He calls your little one to Himself, He does a greater kindness than if He left him to a world of snares.

Do not be a child in understanding, tossed about by every fear. In malice be a babe, but in mind be a man. A longsuffering soul is like a body of adamant; darts cannot wound it. When the Enemy shoots his arrows of despair, laugh within yourself, for he is like a furious child who strikes in vain. You gain nothing by anxiety except to make yourself more miserable. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, yes, but with the fear that drives you to Christ, not the fear that drives you to despair. Commend your body and your hopes to Him. If He grants you a child, receive it with thanksgiving; if He withholds, hold fast to Him who is better than ten sons.

And do not measure God’s love by the quickness of the answer. He who promised, “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” does not lie. The child you lost intercedes for you now if he died in grace. The illness you bear can be a furnace to purify your soul. Stop looking at the waves, and fix your eyes on the Lord. He knows your desire; He knows your pain. Cast yourself upon Him, and the peace that passes understanding will guard your heart. That is the first healing, and it is within your reach this very hour.
