A green idol

I know I'm going to get some rotten tomatoes thrown at me with this one,because i'm attacking something people people do anything for, but I must state what I notice. When an "idol" is mentioned,most might think of a stone statue that some pagan 3000 years ago would pray to.But really, it could be anything we put ahead of God.And hearing how practically everyone I've heard speaks, I'm going to say money can be an idol.Just look at the things people who wouldn't do for anything otherwise, do for money. Like, they put the money above anything,and yes, some might do something sinful for it,disobeying God for the money.But let's compare this to the Bible.Jesus said,"For the love of money is the root of all evil" and "It is harder for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven".Then look at the rich man and Lazarus, who went where. That doesn't seem to bear out this "money over everything" philosophy, does it?Also, my own example...say a loved one is dying in hospice, you can call a faith healer to restore them to health. But that's through the Power of God. Now another dying person in the other room,a rich relative shows up and waves money in front of them. The money has no healing power, and the person will still die.Let's say an unsaved person is witnessed to,and gets saved before death.He gets saved from hell. Now another unsaved person wins the lottery, but dies in their sins.The money won't save them from hell.Point...keep everything in it's place. God is God,not money.Let's not be idolators."What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but loses his own soul?""Chose on this day who you will serve".

Amen. In additon to that: Follow after the spirit and you will not fullfill the lusts of the flesh. This applies also to money. If you walk in the spirit, God will tell you to do this and that with the money: maybe invest, maybe give, maybe build a shelter etc...God is the ruler over all and if we follow Him everything will be alright.

Money in itself it is not evil. It is how we use it. You need to pay the rent, utilities and the childrens college education. Money can be used for the glory of God the Father by building more churches in those spreading suburbs where there in none. Our children need Christian Schools to attend and more Christian TV stations to come alive with gospel. So, before you die, everything you have give it to God. Supervise the work while you are strong. Make sure that everything you do with the money God has given you will be done all to the glory of Jesus. None of us will be able to take anything to heaven. Jesus does not want your millions of dollars you have in the bank right now. The nice house you live in and the beautiful car and truck you ride. None of those things shall come with you to glory. Do not make money an idol. Use the blessings of the Lord to glorify His name then when you get to heaven Jesus will be so happy to know that you were a wonderful stewar of what He has given to you.

I have never given any money to that person so I am not sure if God telling me?
She is definitely in need.
