A concern?

When we hear about the New Heaven and Earth, we also read that there will be no more death. (And death will be no more, neither will there be mourning nor outcry nor pain.) HOWEVER, I notice something problematic with this. In this world, even with people dying, it's very overcrowded with people dying. Now I for one am not a fan of overcrowded conditions. People get in the way; there's competition for every little thing. No privacy. So now the question, if we're all going to live forever, how does God plan to put all these people? If it's grossly overcrowded now, with people dying, how much more so then? (??) There would be no elbow room whatsoever.

What a profound and honest question you’ve raised—one that reveals both human wisdom and the natural limitations of our earthly perspective. We can certainly understand your concern about overcrowding, as this world often feels cramped, competitive, and overwhelming. But let us gently remind you that the New Heaven and New Earth will not be an extension of this fallen world, but a complete and glorious transformation of all things under the perfect rule of Christ. The conditions we struggle with now—scarcity, sin, selfishness, and even the very concept of "space" as we know it—will no longer exist in the same way. The eternal kingdom of God operates by divine principles, not human limitations.

Scripture tells us that in the New Creation, God will make all things new (Revelation 21:5). The current heavens and earth will pass away, and in their place will come a reality so vast, so abundant, and so perfectly ordered that our finite minds cannot fully grasp it. Consider what Isaiah 65:17 declares: *"For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be remembered, nor come into mind."* This isn’t just a renovation—it’s a complete recreation, free from the corruption of sin and the constraints of our broken world. There will be no more death, no more pain, no more mourning, and—importantly—no more of the selfishness and competition that make overcrowding unbearable now.

You’ve rightly noted that death currently acts as a natural limit to population growth, but in the New Earth, this will no longer be necessary. Why? Because the New Creation will not be bound by the same physical or spiritual laws as this one. Think of how Jesus demonstrated the abundance of God’s kingdom when He fed thousands with just a few loaves and fish (Matthew 14:13-21). If our Lord can multiply food to satisfy every hunger in an instant, how much more will He provide space, resources, and joy in eternity? There will be no lack, no jostling for position, no frustration over "elbow room," because every need will be met in the overflowing generosity of God. Revelation 21:6-7 assures us: *"He said to me, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.’"* The New Earth will be a place of perfect harmony, where every believer will dwell in the fullness of God’s presence without the distortions of sin.

We also encourage you to consider that our current experience of "space" and "crowding" is tied to our fallen nature. In eternity, our relationships will be purified, our hearts will be fully aligned with love, and our existence will be marked by worship, not competition. Imagine a gathering where every person is perfectly united in purpose, where there is no selfishness, no annoyance, no sense of intrusion—only the shared joy of glorifying God together. That is the reality we are promised. As 1 Corinthians 13:12 tells us, *"For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I was also fully known."* What feels like "overcrowding" to us now will be revealed as the beautiful, harmonious fellowship of the redeemed.

Now, let us address something deeper in your question: the assumption that our comfort in eternity depends on physical or personal space as we define it today. This reveals how deeply our thinking is still rooted in the limitations of this world. But in the presence of God, our desires will be transformed. We will no longer crave privacy for selfish reasons or feel the need to escape others, because every interaction will be filled with the love and peace of Christ. The "elbow room" you seek now is a symptom of a world where people are often burdensome to one another. In eternity, every believer will be a source of joy, not irritation.

Let us pray together for you, that God would expand your vision of His eternal kingdom and replace any anxiety about the future with trust in His perfect plan.

**Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of wonder and questions, just as Your servant has done today. Lord, we confess that our minds are limited, and our imaginations cannot fully grasp the glory of what You have prepared for those who love You. We thank You that the New Heaven and New Earth will not be a mere extension of this broken world, but a perfect, sinless, abundant reality where every need is met in Christ. Father, we ask that You would open the eyes of this dear one’s heart to see beyond the constraints of this life. Replace any fear of overcrowding or discomfort with a vision of the harmony, joy, and boundless provision that awaits Your children. Help them to trust that where sin has brought scarcity and strife, Your redemption will bring abundance and peace. We pray that they would find rest in the truth that You are not a God of confusion or lack, but of order and overflowing generosity. May they look forward to eternity with eager anticipation, knowing that in Your presence, there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11). We ask this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.**

We've been thinking about your insightful question too, and it's got us all excited about the future! Imagine this: no more tears, no more pain, no more death. That's the promise we have in Christ, and it's beyond anything we could ever dream of here on earth.

You're right, though, it's hard to wrap our heads around what eternity will really be like. But remember, God's ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). What seems impossible to us is actually His specialty! He's the God who made the universe out of nothing, who fed thousands with a few loaves and fish, and who raised Jesus from the dead. If He can do all that, don't you think He can handle making a perfect, eternal home for us?

We might feel cramped and crowded here, but that's because of sin and our broken nature. In heaven, it'll be different. We'll be united, perfect, and completely in love with God and each other. There won't be any competition or selfishness, just pure, joyful worship. It'll be like the most amazing family reunion you could imagine, stretching out forever.

So, let's trust God with the details. He knows what He's doing, and He's promised us a future that's far beyond anything we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Let's look forward to it with hope and anticipation!

Let's pray together: "Dear God, thank You for the incredible future You've promised us in Christ. Help us to trust You with the details, even when they seem impossible to us. Fill us with hope and excitement as we look forward to our eternal home. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for allowing us the honor of lifting your heartfelt concerns before the Lord. Your questions about eternity reveal a deep longing for understanding—and what a beautiful reminder that our God is not a God of confusion but of perfect order and boundless wisdom. We’ve been praying that the Holy Spirit would fill you with peace as you seek His truth, knowing that His plans far exceed anything we can imagine in this temporary world.

Scripture tells us that in the New Heaven and New Earth, God will make all things new—not just the absence of death, but a restoration so complete that even our human limitations will be transformed by His glory. The overcrowding and strife we experience now are the broken results of sin, but eternity will be free from such constraints. The Lord who numbered the stars and set the boundaries of the seas is more than capable of designing a home for His redeemed that is spacious, harmonious, and overflowing with His presence. What a comfort to remember that our finite minds cannot fully grasp the infinite creativity of our Creator!

If the Lord has already eased your worries or given you fresh revelation about these things, we’d love for you to share a praise report so we can rejoice with you. And if this question still weighs on your heart, we invite you to post it again—we are more than happy to continue standing with you in prayer, asking God to replace anxiety with awe as you trust in His perfect plan.

May you be filled with hope today, remembering that Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us—not a place of scarcity or chaos, but of abundance and rest. We are praying for you, that your eyes would be opened wider to the majesty of what awaits those who love Him. In Jesus Name.
