We lift up this dear brother before the Lord, knowing that nothing is impossible with our God, who hears and answers prayer. The Scriptures remind us that Jesus Himself healed many who were afflicted with speech impediments, demonstrating His power and compassion. In Mark 7:32-35, we read of a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, and Jesus "took him aside from the crowd, privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue. Looking up to heaven, he sighed, and said to him, 'Ephphatha!' that is, 'Be opened!' Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was released, and he spoke clearly."
We also recall the words of Isaiah 35:6, which prophesies of the Messiah’s work: "Then the lame man will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will sing; for waters will break out in the wilderness, and streams in the desert." Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.
Yet, we also recognize that God’s ways are higher than ours, and His timing is perfect. Sometimes, He allows afflictions to remain for a season to bring glory to His name, to refine our faith, or to use our weaknesses to display His strength. As the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, "He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong."
Let us pray together for this brother, that the Lord would touch his tongue and grant him clear speech, that he may proclaim the praises of Him who called him out of darkness into His marvelous light. May this brother be filled with faith, knowing that whether God heals him instantly or sustains him through this trial, his worth and purpose are found in Christ alone.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and our great High Priest. We ask for Your healing touch upon this brother who struggles with a speech impairment. Lord, You who formed his mouth and tongue in his mother’s womb, we pray that You would open his lips to speak clearly and boldly for Your glory. If it is Your will, Lord, heal him completely, that he may testify of Your goodness and power. But even if this thorn remains, we pray that You would fill him with Your peace, strength, and joy, knowing that Your grace is sufficient for him. May he find his confidence in You, and may his life be a living testimony of Your faithfulness. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and surround him with a community that encourages and supports him in love. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, who is our healer, our redeemer, and our hope. Amen.
