We see these churches like some Pentecostal churches in the south, who.hold up venomous snakes near their face, and pass them around to the congregation, and if someone dies from the bite ,they proclaim they had weak faith. They look at Paul.in Malta getting bit by a viper, and shaking it off into thefire. But Paul didnt show off.We also hear Jesus tell the devil when told to jump.off the temple "You shall not test the Lord your God."Dancing around holding a venomous snake in your face as an act of faith is likely tempting God.The devil.knows Scripture he just distorts in to mislead.Yet we have these snake handling churches

We hear your deep concern about certain practices in some churches that involve handling venomous snakes as a demonstration of faith. This is indeed a troubling issue that requires careful biblical examination and discernment. The passage you referenced in Acts 28:3-6, where Paul is bitten by a viper on the island of Malta, is often misused to justify such dangerous practices. However, it’s crucial to understand the context, Paul did not seek out this encounter, nor did he use it as a spectacle. The snake fastened onto his hand as he gathered sticks for a fire, and when he suffered no harm, the people recognized it as a divine act, not a display of his own faith or power.

Jesus Himself rebuked Satan in Matthew 4:7 when tempted to throw Himself from the temple, saying, "You shall not test the Lord your God." This is a clear warning against presumptuously putting God to the test or engaging in reckless behavior under the guise of faith. Handling venomous snakes as a public display is not an act of faith, it is a dangerous and misguided attempt to manipulate God into proving His power. Such practices distort the true nature of faith, which is trust in God’s sovereignty, not a demand for signs or miracles.

The apostle Paul warns in 1 Corinthians 10:9, "Let us not test Christ, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents." This verse underscores the seriousness of testing God. Faith is not about proving ourselves or challenging God to act; it is about humbly submitting to His will and trusting in His protection. When churches engage in these practices, they not only endanger lives but also mislead people into believing that faith is measured by dramatic, risky behavior rather than by a quiet, steadfast trust in God’s Word.

We must also consider the broader implications of such practices. They can lead to spiritual pride, where individuals believe their faith is stronger because they engage in dangerous acts. This is contrary to the humility and dependence on God that true faith requires. In James 4:6, we are reminded, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." True faith does not seek to draw attention to itself but instead points others to Christ through a life of obedience and trust.

Let us pray together for those involved in these practices, that their eyes would be opened to the truth of God’s Word and that they would turn away from such dangerous distortions of faith.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieved by the ways in which Your name is sometimes taken in vain through reckless and misguided acts. We pray for those in churches that engage in snake handling and other dangerous practices, that You would open their eyes to the truth of Your Word. Lord, we ask that You would break the deception that has taken hold in these places, that they would see the difference between true faith and the testing of Your goodness. Protect those who are led astray by these practices, and bring them into a deeper understanding of what it means to trust in You with humility and reverence.

Father, we pray that You would raise up godly leaders in these communities who will teach Your Word with clarity and conviction. Let them understand the seriousness of testing You and the importance of walking in obedience to Your commands. May they lead others into a faith that is rooted in Your promises, not in dramatic displays that tempt You or endanger lives.

We also pray for those who have been harmed or lost loved ones due to these practices. Comfort them, Lord, and help them to see that Your heart is not in such recklessness. Draw them closer to You, and let them find peace in Your sovereignty and love.

Above all, Father, we pray that Your name would be honored and glorified in all things. May Your church be a light in this world, reflecting Your truth, Your love, and Your holiness. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

To those who may be involved in or considering such practices, we urge you to seek wisdom and discernment from God’s Word. True faith is not about putting yourself in harm’s way to prove your devotion; it is about trusting God in every circumstance, whether ordinary or extraordinary. Study the Scriptures, surround yourself with godly counsel, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. The Christian life is one of obedience, not spectacle, and it is in quiet trust that we find our strength and security in Christ.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with your heartfelt concern, bringing this matter before the Lord in prayer. It is our privilege to stand with you in intercession, lifting up the body of Christ and asking for wisdom, discernment, and protection from practices that may distort the truth of God’s Word.

Father, we pray that You would open the eyes of those who may be deceived by well-intentioned but misguided expressions of faith. May Your Holy Spirit bring conviction, clarity, and a return to the firm foundation of Scripture. We ask for Your hand of protection over those who may be in harm’s way, that they would not be led astray by false interpretations or reckless demonstrations of faith. Guard their hearts, Lord, and lead them into all truth.

If this burden has been lifted or if You have already begun to work in this situation, we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Your faithfulness strengthens our faith and reminds us of Your power to bring light into darkness. If, however, the need remains, we invite you to post this request again so that we may continue to stand with you in prayer, trusting that God hears and answers according to His perfect will.

May the Lord bless you as you seek Him with a heart after His truth. May He fill you with wisdom, peace, and a deeper understanding of His Word as you walk in obedience to Christ. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
