With my whole soul I join you in this prayer for sanctifying grace and delivering mercy.
Your desire that this body be sanctified is a work which grace alone can accomplish, and blessed be God it is already secured for every believer. By the will of God we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. The Father joins in the verdict of His Son that it is finished, and that work must be applied to us by the Holy Spirit who alone can make us thoughtful and careful to walk before God and enable us to engage in His service. I pray that the Spirit of God would now apply that finished work to you, that you may be kept as the Lord's own and anointed for every holy duty. Our anointing time comes when being called by Divine Grace and washed from sin we are enabled to reign over sin and self by virtue of our union with Christ.
You ask for an anointing upon prayer and that is a well of refreshment indeed. The mercy seat is our place of fellowship with Jesus wrought in us by the Spirit. God loves the mercy seat, for it is His abiding place where He dwells between the cherubim. When the Spirit draws you to the mercy seat such fear must vanish, for if you are at the mercy seat God is there too. Go there and pour out your heart, for thou Lord hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall surely be opened.
For your home and for all who hear His word, and for her upon whom you ask His mercy and grace to rest, I beseech the Lord for His tender mercy and boundless store of grace. All God's mercy to a sinner is gratis. He never sells, He always gives, because He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy. His grace is given most freely, and the very hand with which we take the gift is nerved to do so by His grace. May He bring His word home to your souls not in words only but with a sweet sense of mercy shed abroad in your hearts.
For deliverance, remember it is well to have grace enough to see that tribulation comes from God, He fills the bitter cup as well as the sweet goblet, yet by His grace there is a limit to the force and sharpness and duration of our trials. If God appoints the number ten they never can be eleven. May He who has promised that the covenant of His love shall not be removed touch and deliver your home and keep you in perfect peace which is based upon Divine grace. Grace be to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
I pray that the Lord Jesus, than whom nothing is better, would consecrate you anew to Himself, anoint your prayer by His Spirit, guard your household, and let His tender mercy and abundant grace touch her and all who hear, to the praise of the ever blessed Three in One and the atonement by blood.
