We hear your heart in this request, and we stand with you before the Lord, seeking His perfect will in this situation. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:9 that, "A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps." Even when our desires feel strong, we must trust that God’s plans are higher and wiser than our own. If this trip is not aligned with His purpose for you, we pray He would make a way for it to be canceled or altered according to His will.

At the same time, we encourage you to examine the reasons behind your reluctance. Is there fear, unresolved conflict, or a spirit of avoidance at work? Scripture tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." If this trip is part of God’s refining process for you, whether to grow your faith, mend relationships, or step into obedience, we pray for strength and courage to walk in His peace. Philippians 4:6-7 assures us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."

We also lift up any unresolved issues tied to this trip. Are there broken relationships, unconfessed sin, or unforgiveness that need to be addressed? Jesus teaches in Matthew 5:23-24, "If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift." If there are matters of the heart that need resolution, we pray for the humility and courage to seek reconciliation and healing.

Let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this situation to You, asking that Your will be done in every detail. If this trip is not part of Your plan, we ask that You would cancel it or redirect it according to Your purpose. If it is Your will for this trip to proceed, we pray for Your peace to guard this heart, for strength to walk in obedience, and for Your presence to go before and behind. Lord, reveal any areas of fear, unforgiveness, or disobedience that may be hindering Your work, and grant the grace to address them with a repentant and humble heart.

We rebuke any spirit of anxiety, avoidance, or rebellion that may be at work in this situation. We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will rule in this heart and mind. Father, we trust You to resolve every issue tied to this trip, whether it be relational, emotional, or practical. Give wisdom, discernment, and clarity to know Your will and the courage to walk in it. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this matter, surrendering your plans to Him and asking for His guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." May you experience His peace and presence as you wait on Him.

We can feel the weight of just wanting a difficult situation to go away, and we’re so glad you reached out. You are not alone in this. When we face something we truthfully do not want to walk through, it helps to remember that God invites us to be completely honest with Him about what we are feeling, even the tangled parts. He isn’t put off by our reluctance or our questions. Bringing each piece of the situation to Him, not just the trip itself but whatever lies behind the tension, can gently shift something inside us, trading heavy “what ifs” for a quiet turning toward His peace.

We are praying that God will resolve the issues in a way that brings clarity and genuine relief, and that you will sense His steady presence whether the trip happens or not. In the meantime, you might set aside a few unhurried moments to simply talk with God about what makes this trip so burdensome and to ask for the wisdom you need. Sometimes just naming those things before Him opens our hearts to a sense of direction we had not yet seen.

Father, thank you that no detail of our lives escapes your care. We bring this trip and every tangled issue surrounding it to you now. Please grant wisdom, open a path to honest resolution, and settle this person’s heart in your own deep peace. However you work, help them know you are with them and for them. Fret not yourself over this journey, for anxiety has never yet brought comfort or provision to a single soul, indeed, it unfits you to meet the difficulty, should it come. Your present distress rises from a verdict of sense that declares matters amiss, but faith sets its resolve to look again toward God’s holy Temple. Pour out your trouble into His ear who is never weary of His people’s voice, and there leave it. Whether the trip is cancelled or not, the Lord’s sovereignty orders all for your good; He may dissolve those difficulties you dread by granting a surprise of Divine intervention, or His gentleness may intend through the very thing you shrink from to teach your wings a broader flight.

Seek His will rather than mere escape, and make this your holy resolve: “I will go in the strength of the Lord God,” should He bid you attend. Yet mark this harder word, if your heart rebels against a mere earthly appointment, what of your standing before Divine Justice? The deeper issue is not a calendar conflict, but whether you are at peace with God through Jesus Christ. If you have never looked to His sacrifice for your sin, you are a prisoner indeed, and that is the flight you must dread.

Confess your trust in Christ alone, and you shall find that the present trouble shrinks before the eternal deliverance He has purchased.

You ask for prayer that God would cancel a trip you dread and smooth over the troubles tangled with it. I join my prayers with yours, but let us together seek not merely the removal of a discomfort but the healing of the soul. Often we imagine that safety and peace lie in avoiding every hardship, yet observe the Magi: they undertook a long and weary journey, not by their own desire but drawn by a star, and at its end they found Christ Himself. Had they prayed to be spared that travel, they would have missed the joy of worship. So too the trip you fear may be a path where God intends to show you something of His will. I do not say you must love it, but that you might endure it as those who travel light, recalling that the one who can live on little is worth more than he who needs a soft bed and many attendants. If the journey is unavoidable, then go like the apostles sent among wolves, carrying no extra weight, trusting that God’s unspeakable power will sustain you in the very midst of what seems hostile.

As for the issues surrounding it, that is a greater matter. Christ taught us a ready and easy way to cancel our debts with God: not to be revengeful, but to forgive from the heart. The unresolved troubles you name may snare you in resentment, and that poison harms no one more than yourself. I pray that God quiets the storm in your spirit, whether the trip is taken or not, and that you will find the narrow way of sobriety and wakefulness. There is no need to cross oceans to find rest; it is enough to have a willing heart and to put a bridle on your tongue. God, who turned the raging persecutor Paul into an apostle by a sudden revelation, can in a moment untangle what seems impossible. Let us then be both confident in Jesus our guide and watchful, for if we slumber even a little, we are swept away. Cast off the heavy baggage of anxiety and desire, and may the will of God be done in this matter, for that alone is the truly safe harbor.

Thank you for letting me know what’s on your heart. That trip next week is clearly weighing on you, and the issues tied to it are adding to the strain. You’re reaching out for relief, and that’s honest.

When something presses down on us this heavily, it’s easy to assume God must have placed it there. But Jesus draws a sharp line. He tells us His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He calls to those who are weary and heavy laden, promising rest, not a heavier load. So when a situation feels crushing, it’s worth stopping to ask: did this weight actually come from the Lord, or did I pick it up somewhere else? Sometimes we take on demands that God never made, or we let others pile expectations on us that leave us anxious and worn out.

There’s a telling place in Scripture where God confronted people who kept saying, “the burden of the Lord, the burden of the Lord.” He told them to stop using those words. He hadn’t given them that burden. They were spreading a weight He never intended. The same can happen today. We can call a difficult obligation a divine assignment when really it’s something we’ve assumed ourselves or accepted under pressure.

Rather than simply asking for the trip to be cancelled, let’s ask for clear sight. Seek what the Lord is actually speaking. Put the whole matter before Him: the trip, the issues, the relationships tangled up in it. Pray for His mind. The Spirit can bring resolution where human effort alone cannot, and He can unsnarl things we could never straighten out ourselves.

I will stand with you in prayer for that clarity and for a peaceful opening of the way forward. If this trip is not something He has for you, then trust Him to close that door without leaving wreckage behind. If there is something He is asking you to face, His grace will be sufficient to make the yoke bearable. The burden of pleasing yourself or meeting every outside demand is heavy. The burden of seeking to do the Father’s will is light.

In the meantime, don’t carry this weight alone. Cast it all onto Him. He cares for you, and He is more than willing to bear what you cannot. Let me help bear it with you in prayer. At the same time, keep your own heart open and truthful before God. You don’t need to walk away still crushed, hoping someone else caught the load you just dumped. Bring it honestly to Him, and let His rest take the place of the heaviness you’ve been feeling.
